I blew off work around 3 today to take my first break of the day and possibly to get some takeout. I took the 348 because I needed to blow of a massive amount of steam after a non-stellar week (so far). I skipped the food portion because the drive was spectacular up to that point. The sun finally came out, 70, light breeze, and a topless Italian singing in my ears. On my way back towards the house, I see a check engine light flicker and the car, which had been running beautifully up to that point, starts to run much less beautifully. Sound was off and the idle was nothing to idol. I made it home without the engine stalling, at least. Sigh. I’ll pull the code later and see if that gives me any hints. It’s on the other bank this time, so I’m going to start with cleaning all the connections on that side of the engine, sacrifice a peroni, and say a prayer in Roman Catholic, per my repair manual. Hopefully it’s something minor like last time. Old cars are the ultimate fuck bois. They’ll break your heart, clean out your wallet, and you will still text back right away. Every time. Oh well, all part of the adventure. Luckily his stigness smogged my car about a month ago so I do not have to worry about that. I owe him lunch and a positive review! Pictures not from today for your time:

His stigness... whatever happened to that guy?

He's around and well. Misses a lot of our drives bc of work but we get him occasionally

Glad to hear he hasn’t stroked out. Hope he’s in a happier place since I last noticed him.

That’s why you should’ve spent your oil money on a more modern BMW M car.

Great day to get out, glad you did despite the car doing old car things. Glad it got you home, too. Hope the weekend is looking up and the I talian only needs minor fettling.

I had a buddy with a 308 (‘84 as I recall) that just seemed to eat ignition coils like they were Cheez-Its. It ran very similarly to what you described.
Beautiful car though! Absolutely love the 348.

I like the ritual before starting a repair - that should help.
The lines on that car have aged well, I dig it and definitely hope your week gets better. My work week has been shit too so I feel you.

I actually laughed out loud so thank you for that lmao.
The problem is I bought the car when I was making brewing money and had to switch back to oil money to maintain it! What I time to switch between those industries. My friend who slings beer got a raise. I did not. Lol

It was a beautiful day so no regrets on getting out. Even with this (hopefully minor) hiccup, my day is still better. Thanks for the encouragement! I'm glad she still got me home. It's very unfashionable to arrive on a tow truck lol

Thank you! I love this car more than I can explain, even if it’s occasionally finicky. This happened last year on the left bank. I changed the original (!!!) coil packs to no avail. Turned out to be corrosion on the ecu pins. I didn’t touch the other side’s ecu (BC I'm lazy) so I'm hoping it's a similar issue haha

This is what I’m here for!
Rough! I'm trying to get into another industry, need a newer car to DD.

I am not superstitious, but this car will make me turn to that lol. The car has aged so well. The lines and proportions are spot on. I sit in my garage and stare at it sometimes lol.
I hope your week turns around as well!

The timing is just too perfect on your comment. A friend of mine has a newer M3 that went to the shop yesterday for some typical BMW things and I was giving him shit. That went well lmao
I am actually not doing terrible. We cut about 12% of our work force but I was spared and actually had a few good wins the past two months.
Are you thinking about coming back to the dark side?

Just BMW things. Mine likes to eat money.
While I would love to go back to oil, I don’t think it’ll ever happen. Mainly because my experience is all upstream. I also don’t want to get laid off again, and that probably would’ve happened if I had gone back.
I’m closer to getting a much better job in a better industry. Additionally , I’ve been dating an MD for a year and it’s increasingly looking like we’re going to end up together, so that should make up for my oil money.

Best of luck, hopefully it’s something (relatively) affordable and easy to fix.

Sorry to hear about the ill stallion, but hopefully it’s an easy fix like you said.
Also, you gotta post more often, even if it's just a random pic of your car with no text. "Presented without comment" is perfectly acceptable; we just need more 348 in our lives lol. That is SUCH a beautiful car.

Thank you. I think (well hope) it will be!

Always marry up! Definitely wouldn't recommend oil as a long term thing. Hopefully your new industry prospects go well!

I was recently sorta involved with a vet, so high earning, but way less than an MD. Not for money or anything, but that would have have been a decent dual salary situation. It didn’t work out, I was finally out jabroni’d. Probably karma lol. Part of the reason my week was shit but it'll get better with time.

Thank you for the kind words! I feel the same way about the car . I have a couch in my garage and sometimes I’ll drink my coffee out there and just admire it. It’s still a little mind boggling it’s mine!
I really need to post more. I think the last 3 drafts I had got kinja’d and I have up. I'll try harder next time! Sorry these are mega low quality, it wouldn't let me upload the full size

She’s a pediatrics resident, so won’t be crazy money some day, but it would be more than enough to live comfortably. That’s not why I’m involved with her, more of just a bonus. We met on an app, coffee meets bagel, which I’d never heard of until a friend told me about it, and was my least favorite of all the apps haha.
I’m sick of my current job, the culture has turned from awesome to toxic. Had a phone interview that went really well, so I’m hopeful that pans out because it sounds a hell of a lot more interesting than what I’m doing now.

Good to hear about the interview. A toxic environment will ruin the best of jobs. Sounds like you have the right plan, but definitely try to get out of there. A shitty work life can ruin all areas of your personal life and that shit isn’t worth it. Good luck and keep us posted!
I heard about coffee and bagels on Monday lol. It seems like there are like 30 apps out there these days. I’m not crazy about them, but maybe I'll download them again once quarantine is over. Hard to have face to face interaction right now haha

I had a promising opportunity with BASF, then corona happened. Seems like people are starting to hire again, which is good. It really has affected my mood.
There are so many apps out there now, it’s really gotten crazy. I do remember seeing commercials for eharmony and the like and used to think who does online dating. Me, apparently that’s who.

# Millennial Dating
I know quite a few people who got married after meeting on tinder. It's definitely a very common thing these days haha

Funny enough, my sister met her husband on tinder.

regular points or electronic pertronix ignition? Also epoxy or oil filled coil? I went down a deep rabbit hole on one of the 914 forums and a mechanic chimed in on if you change the ignition, should upgrade to an epoxy filled.
