Runs and drives perfectly fine, but has several issues that will become problematic down the road. Not worth the repairs, I’d say you can get another year out of this sucker before she dies.
Core part of frame super rusted, rear shocks blown, ABS wiring cut (brakes work fine though), oil leak, CD player and DVD player busted and probably some other issues.
Want a car to drive for the summer and fall, and get half your money back in scrap once it finally dies? This is the car for you.
What happened to CL Saver?

Even without the structural rust those things crash tested incredibly poorly.

Not exactly longvoyager bait.
I’ll cede that much while pointing out it is brown and looks like a recklessly cheap date with no inhibitions left.

To be fair I stated this right up front in the title.

The scary part is my parents had a U-body for 13 years.

Yipes! No thanks!
Props to the seller for a fantastic and honest ad though. I bet someone will gamble it.

Eh? Scrap auto is like $92/ton right now. U-pull yards by me are topping out at like $200 for a running driving truck.

It was a warmed over 15 year old platform that wasn't known for structural integrity even when new, classic GM phone-in.

If there’s one thing I learned from YouTube flip videos, this thing is new plugs and PCV valve and a cheap head unit away from $2k, rust doesn’t matter, nobody ever looks underneath anyway.

He should have mentioned that if it’s drive this for a year or head to a buy here/pay here lot, this is the better choice.

As a defender of all things U plander, I may be wrong but I believe 1st crash test picture is the prior generation Venture family. It and the Lumina APV were junk.
here is a ‘05 uplander offset video

Thanks Bob, I didn’t question him on particulars since rusted through frame collapsing was noted prominently as one of the ways it could try to kill you.

Rust is denser than gold.
Just ask any scrap yard owner what people tried to pull over on them.

Unless some obscure cable channel produces an off beat hit starring one of these, not a chance.

This has Winter beater written all over it. OR someone across the border where DUI is a “civil offense not a criminal one” will decide it looks ditchable.

Instant Gambler vehicle. That, or give it the Frank the Tank treatment

Impossible, anyone who drives one dies, didn’t you see that crash test......

Luckily it’s only accident was a tap on the rear. It wasn’t a good or bad car, it was just a car. Traded in on an RDX with ~150k on it and a failing transmission.

True ... Unless you value any semblance of crash worthiness. This thing will crush like a beer can in an accident.

Ah, good point.

Funny thing is, if I went to look at a vehicle and saw it had these issues, I’d walk away immediately. But since he spilled everything up front, I’d actually be willing to consider it.

I totally get that. It's one thing if they're hiding it, or too stupid to know what's up. When they're completely honest and up front about it, that changes things.

Man i remember these being such junk.
The 1st gen Montana/Venture (2nd gen Si lhouette) were not bad for 1997. Much improved over the Trans Sport. Then typical GM gets a hold of it
The 3.4l and 3.5l were just ok as well, had torque but no power. My dad’s 2000 Odyssey put them to shame.

No problem. The Uplander is just another example of GM’s long history of finally getting a car right and then cancelling it......
