hmmmm....i wonder how hard it could be to engineer a little robotic arm into one of our coffee machines...
that looks like its much more fun than just a boring old cup platform right underneath the coffee hole

Even an arm that comes out of a compartment with the dispensing nozzle would look cool. Maybe doing that would allow the nozzle to be subjected to UV disinfection between uses.
I’m happy to share royalties with you related to this idea. A free machine with lifetime coffee supply would be an excellent negotiating point as well.

I don’t know what I like more, the arm pouring out a carafe, the $ 3 being debited from what had been a $300 bill, or Nixon’s portrait complementing the smell of the coffee.

hmmm...ill see if i can chat up one of the wonks...err engineers tomorow
this sounds like a great plan
sure beats the coffee printer me previous bossman wanted (hes got a burn out....doubt we’ll be seeing him again)

I saw something about a coffee printer and thought it would be neat seeing in action once but wouldn’t hold appeal beyond that.
I could see folks that are super into Instagram potentially using one though.

ill admit its cool for the sake of cool.... but i dont think its an improvement to coffee

When I was in Japan several years ago I saw a beer pouring robot. I can’t remember if it was Kirin-Ic hiban or Sa pporo who made it. But it had a frozen hopper stacked full of frosty pint glasses. When the bartender hit the button, a glass would drop out of the chute into a waiting arm, which would slide it over to the tap. The beer would start to pour and the arm would tilt the glass throughout the pour to keep the desired angle to get the perfect amount of head.
Granted having a good head on a cup of coffee isn’t as much of a concern (cappuccino , maybe?) but it would be cool to have something similarly interesting to watch instead of paper cup falls down on a pad and nozzle blasts hot coffee into it.

I would think it would definitely have benefits in terms of sanitation and machine cleanliness. If the arm retracts before the cup is removed you would get fewer drips that need cleaned up in addition to not leaving the nozzle just hang out in the open air. Depending on the usage pattern of the end user it might even allow for a self contained periodic cleaning cycle.

Maybe it was low expectations, but the 100th cup scene was stunning the first time I saw it (on my fishbowl of a 25" RCA TV, the SDTV era was a dark time ).

It made me want to try the 300 coffee cup thing, but I usually get bored or distracted after about 6 or 7 and give up.

self contained cleaning is problematic.... you’d need a much bigger machine
room for another container of cleaning fluids and such...
do able mind...but yah...it would be a bigly machine

I’m sure there would be some interesting ways to improve the aesthetics of the typical coffee machine for sure.
I would definitely like to get some good robot beer pouring action in my life.

I love this episode too. I also like how they used the same concept with Quicksilver in the M cAvoy timeline X-men movies.

Feel free to omit any bad suggestions I make from your discussion with the nerds.

Their animation was always the problem. It was incredible. Just look at the intro, and how many moving objects there are. It was an expensive show to make, if I remember, hence it getting cancelled. Repeatedly.
