I built a couple solid walnut knife racks, this weekend.
Y’know. For fun.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
I ordered were pretty amazing, and mostly worked just right. I’ll do better next time. If anyone needs a good US-based magnet supplier, lemme know.
I screwed up a couple nice pieces of wood.
But when it was all done, sanded and waxed, it all worked out.
My fingers hurt, but building something that will last is supposed to be worth it, right?
Also, why is Kinja formatting screwing this up?

Sir, I believe you are looking for any of the numerous items that can chip them.

Some ceramics really work, some don’t. Either way, they’re a drawer tool.

I spot an F Dick knife there (I think). I bought some friends some as a wedding present, and always regretted not getting some for myself. I heard through a 3rd party that the groom said that was his favourite wedding present, so there’s that.
Anywho, nice work.

You do indeed spot an F Dick knife. Just received it as a gift. Can’t wait to actually use it. I expect it to be my daily driver.

A couple of Shuns there. I like mu Shuns.

I’d love to use a Shun, but haven’t yet. The Japanese knives are Miyabis. The koh is super pretty, but probably too brittle. The Morimoto might be a sacrilage, but it’s a softer steel and holds its edge better, and I’m
all about sacrilage
.

Hope so! I’ve been doing a sharpening class in our garage, the past couple months.

I’ve had their multi-cut steel for years. A worthwhile investment.
