And I’ve been surprised how much I like it. I mean duh, it’s a Audi, obviously it’s going to be nice, but I’m surprised how much of a sporty feel it has. Initially I thought it would be a bit more boring, a luxury Camry (or Solara?), however for it’s size I’ve been surprised how engaging it is.

Light steering normally but loads up nicely around corners. Sharp enough too for being a non S model. Power is surprising. I figured it would feel a bit slower as it has the same motor as my GTI but this thing pulls very strong. The 7 speed DSG is perfectly matched. Yes a manual would be fun but this fits this A5's character well. It even returned 36 Mpg on my 200 mile trip today. Crazy. This thing just wants to go 70 all day on the highway.

The interior is lovely and well put-together for the most part. The ambient lighting is a nice touch and feels premium even over what we get in the MK7. I even like the silly tablet style sceen. It’s not necessarily integrated well but I am beginning to appreciate not having to look down at a screen for directions and music.

A few negatives - the base seats in this model don’t really agree with me. I’m pretty short and am picky on seats so I won’t completely blame the car. Although extendable thigh support should be standard on these big German coupes. Also, the ride is definitely a bit on the sporty end, which while composed in corners, might be a bit stiff for some. I’d say it’s just right for me, though. Finally, why are cooled seats so hard to come by on German cars. Half my FCA inventory has them, so a bit annoying to see that not included.

Anyways that’s my short little review. I knew I wouldn’t hate this car but was pleasently surprised how good it was for an enthusiast while not being the Audi Sport model. And for a little over $30k with 18k miles seems like a nice amount of car for then money.

AMA, if ya got any Q’s!

IIRC, these have a slightly larger turbo than the GTI, possibly the R’s .

Yeah I’ll have to look that up but I wouldn’t be surprised. I believe it’s rated at 252 HP so maybe it’s a detuned IS38

I absolutely love my B9 S5 coupe. The A5 are “this is adequate” fast. My S5 is cackling loudly between stoplights, happy about cheap gas prices fast. Both eat freeway miles with no drama too.

And the sport seats are soooooo much better.

These are nice. I drove a 2017 A4 over a couple of days when visiting friends, assume the A5 is mechanically same.  The steering complaint I agree with but otherwise perfectly rounded sedan. I am looking at a certified A4 with the trim that has cooled seats as a possible next vehicle.

That’s awesome! Glad you enjoy your S5. I could see a sportback version being  a good next car after my GTI.

I’ve been getting so used to modern electric steering it’s weird getting in something older with heavy steering. Especially like an E90. What’s weird is this is the Prestige model yet still doesn't have cooled seats yet I've seen them on Premium Plus models. Audi is odd.

I really wanted the coupe. My kids are old enough that they can climb in the back, but not too big that they don’t fit, so it seemed like the right move. Soon we’ll need 3 cars, so one of them will probably have no back seat at all

Coupes are always cool. I did it wrong and had one in college and jammed people in it and now have a 5 door and rarely have more than 1 other passenger. Hmm, lots of good no backseat machines to choose
