Happy Thursday, Oppo. Also, dig the tread on that spare.

Good Morning! How’s the weather down south - we’re in a pleasant cool spell here in Missouri post- Cristobal with it being a beautiful 60 this morning and a high of only 85.
I very much enjoyed the cool weather as I had to run to home depot this morning to buy a kitchen faucet as mine broke last night. First time I’ve been there since mid-March and it felt strange to go there again .

The roof is much more interesting to me than the spare, because it’s effectively an
augmented
phaeton roof. It has a steel band that clamps to the bodywork and the roof hoop rather than that section being another piece of canvas.

Really nice yesterday, but a tad warmer today, but still nicely dry (as in not humid). Unfortunately, we have our regular August weather pattern in place already, which means high pressure parked over the state keeping it hot with no rain in sight for the next couple of weeks. The weatherman said he's never seen this pattern so early before. Great.

Did those things have side windows, or did you just get rained on? Or did you just not drive in the rain?

Sometimes there were side curtains, but if you lived anywhere soggy a hardtop was probably a better idea.

That’s an unpleasant forecast - we’re also having an uncharacteristically dry early summer with no rain in the forecast for the next week but slightly cooler than average high temperatures at about 90 hopefully that’ll keep the humidity down too but we’ll wait and see.

Amazing how much detail was able to be captured by film 100 years ago when properly shot and developed. (and preserved!)

Agreed. And the scans Shorpy do are amazing. I think a lot of that detail is from the large format film they used back in the day, glass plates or whatever. I’m no historian of photography though.

Yeah....the size of the negative didn’t hurt, nor does post-scan correction.
I watched ‘ The Cold Blue’ the other day, I need to post about it. They took all the old film from the Memphis Belle promo shoots and re-scanned/corrected them. Unreal....
