the need for separate sensors inside the wheel is booo! and the general inaccuracy of the readings makes any warning basically invalid.
all my tyres are filled to spec, despite this display’s assertions otherwise.

The mini won’t throw a light until at least one tire hits 20psi, but it won’t go away until all 4 are over 35psi. Yours i s at least fancy enough to tell you what it thinks rhe pressure is

TPM S is just a way for big tire to take more of our money.

I have mixed feelings about the TMPS on my wife’s Mazda 3. It doesn’t need wheel pressure sensors, instead (presumably) using the ABS wheel speed sensors to determine if a tire has lost pressure. Neat! But then, it doesn’t tell me which tire has lost pressure, so whenever the TMPS light comes on I have to check every damn wheel. That bugs me lots.
Another feature where early implementations don’t work too well is blind spot warning systems. The BLIS system on my XC90 sucks. so. hard. and. long. It uses cameras under the side mirrors to watch for cars and warns when something that resembles a car lies within view.
Of course, if there’s not enough light it can’t make out cars’ outlines, so at night it depends on being able to see cars’ headlights.
So,
if something doesn’t look like a car, it remains quiet. Forty-foot trailer? Nothing. Landscape lighting? All the warnings
. And then it complains at dawn and dusk about the system becoming impaired
because there’s not enough contrast. Meanwhile the blind-spot warning system in the Mazda 3 seems magical. Cars? Beep! Trucks? Beep! Shopping carts? Beep! Toddlers running away from their parents’ slave-driving clutches? BEEEEEEEP!

I have even earlier TPMS that just looks at the individual wheel speeds of the ABS system . Works decently well (it knows when I changed tires around), no individual sensor calibration/replacement dickery.

On my 2012 Fiat 500, the TPMS light has been on since the day I bought it. The message center tells me "tire pressure monitoring unavailable." I've never had a car with TPMS before, so I dont really care. I just check my tires the same as I did on every car I owned before this one.

I’ve got the GM one that occasionally reads TMPS Fault for one wheel, that goes away after several miles, or after turning the car off and turning it back on again. The first time it happened, I assumed it was a bad sensor, but 2 of them are new in the past year, and it still happens on those wheels from time to time.

They last roughly five years then the batteries in the TPMS sensors stop working. I’ve had to change ‘em on my Cayman twice, I hate idiot lights nagging me.

Over eight years and 150k miles and the sensors in my wife’s BMW are still going strong. BMW also lets you set the pressure warning light to a certain degree which is nice.

The OEM ones in the Fiats are easily broken, from what I understand. Like every other time I changed tires one broke . Then the batteries started to go dead at about 7 years old on the ones I hadn’t already replaced.

Yeah. Just like the bluetooth connection system in the Fiat, it's not worth the effort.

the wife’s crv uses the abs sensors instead of sensors inside the tyre. its smart.
and was standard on hondas only 3 years after this honda (of which i took the picture ) was made

negative.
and ita certainly reading values from the wheels. adding air reaolves the issue. Its just that its the wrong amount of air is needed.
so its reading, just can read right

i assure you, the pressures are correct, and merely the display is wrong. so plenty safe :P

while I prefer the slight revision in design and engine that my 08 TSX has, I’d prefer to not have TPMS like yours.

Our Juke’s TPMS just lets you know A tire is out of whack. Not low , or high , or which damn tire. Just that one or more tires is “ wrong ”. It’s quite annoying.

But I suppose that’s a step up from my Eagle or Rampage or Husky . They get the old butt-sensor or eyeball- o- mom meter and an approximate once a month gauge checking.

I have an 08 TSX and wasn’t having issues but the TPMS sensors have a finite battery life. I had them all changed when I had a set of tires mounted . in 2016 . Costco had no issue installing the OEM ones I bought from a dealer. I can’t remember if Costco charged an additional fee (might have been 5 or 10 a wheel) bu t it was worth the ~$ 35 per unit after including the cost of grommets and washers, and nuts to not have to worry about it. . I just wanted new parts but they could have reused the washer, nut and grommets. If your readings are off a pound or two I think you can change it a couple pounds via the setup menus.
Here are the parts I used.
42753-STK-A04 SENSOR ASSY., TPMS
42756-STK-A01 GROMMET, TPMS VALVE
42754-STK-A01 NUT, TPMS VALVE
42755-STK-A01 WASHER, TPMS VALVE

Overall, I agree. I liked the wheels on the 04/05, though. I was just thinking today about how I miss that car, as it was pretty much 2 years to the day that I rolled over 200k on it and I rolled over 200k on my G37 today. I love my G37, but my TSX was the perfect commuter car.
