I remember Sploid existing , but what kind of blog was it supposed to be? I seem t o recall a lot of posts that were nothing more than some r a ndom video and a short paragraph. Maybe that’s why it’s gone? Or p erhaps it was more of a redundancy thing. This video, for example, would fit right in over at A.V. Club, or ma ybe io9. Heck, AVC and io9 often post the same things- I’m surprised that hasn’t been addressed yet .

I don’t really recall, it was about the time I found it it went away. I just liked the videos and the short film fests. Here’s their youtube page, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCL2PYID00feXAwdSMHTUHhA/videos

Hm, yeah I see a LOT of stuff that totally bel ongs over at Jalopnik, or Gizmodo , or AVC, etc. Who knows, maybe they actually did ge t shared to the appropriate blog back when they were originally posted on Sploid . But that just begs the question of why share it when it could have been publish ed there instead?

It always came off as
Look At This Cool Thing, the blog. Not much detail. The thing has the detail. Look at this cool thing!

I looked at IO9 and AV club today and came back wanting. AV club is about the AV business, not the films . I09 just is too sci fi for me to be interesting.
What I liked about Sploid was it was a place to find goo d short films. I miss having a curated place that shows them. Here’s one I found today.

Yep. it was through a cross post that I found it. Another way to put it is that Sploid is the Youtube for Kinja.
