I am a stupid person who just broke the Ducati shift lever wrangling it out of the carport. No other damage. Self hate is strong at the moment.

Did your foot think it was the resting peg?

To be fair to you, that looks like an engineered failure point, designed to break exactly as it did. Time to open the wallet again.

To be fair that looks like a very thin piece of cast aluminum that was not very robust to begin with.

That point at which “inimitable”
engineering means “literally nobody should be imitating this”.

Dremel it flat, drill, 3" bolt, nut, a bunch of washers. I just saved you like $148. You’re welcome.
Seriously though, that sucks.

FUUUUUUU...
I once had the pivot bolt for the shifter on my Seca II pop off whilst riding one Sunday afternoon down Aviation Bl. near Imperial. This was in the pre-cell phone days so I went to the nearest business that had a phone so I could get some assistance. If you know the area you know what business was there, and let’s just say my phone calls took quite some time.
I got lucky, however. I walked (like I had a choice) down the road to the area where I last remember shifting. Lo and behold, there was the bolt in the middle of the road. I did my best to install it, only finger tight since I didn't have the appropriate Allen wrench. First stop? Get some Loctite...

Since it is Italian I can guess replacing it will be needlessly complicated

find a likely candidate like an appropriate knob and tap it and screw the knob in and use a lock nut, prob last longer too
