Does an ls fit in the Maserati when the engine blows?

I’d love an Elise or Esprit. Probably the Esprit since it would be my only car and I’d need some space for groceries and such.

Elise or 928 for sure.

I’d go with the Elise...but they don’t really fit me.

928 all the way.  I'd coyote swap it when funds permit and never look back.

I think I’d have to go with the Maserati Spyder. Convertible, even if the engine blows.

The Elise would be my first choice too. I just wonder if it would fit like the pants I tried on that I hadn’t worn in a few years.

The 4c would’ve been option two,  but with the disclaimer about people over 6ft having issues it might not fit either. I guess I’d settle for the Aston. Life would be rough.

Realistically, the Elise.

To satisfy my inner 12 year old who had a poster on his wall, the Esprit.

However if I actually had the $ (for both buy-in and maintenance), the 456GTA looks like the best bang for buck - that’s a helluva lot of GT for the money, and o ne of the last truly good looki ng Fezzas .

The Elise because then I’d have two 2ZZ-GE vehicles. But realistically if I was going to blow $30k on a 2 seater, I’d get a Duc Streetfighter.

The 456 because I’ve always wanted a Ferrari, or the Bentley Conti GT.

Oddly enough my wife, of all people, pointed out a Bentley to me tonight when we were going to pick up dinner, and I mentioned I'd like to have one.  She just shook her head.

The only reason I wouldn’t pick the esprit is that I doubt I can actually fit in it to drive it.

It would depend on the budget. On the higher end, I’d take the 4C and giggle at every exhaust crackle from my carbon fiber mini-exotic. On the lower end, that DB7 (with some different wheels) feels like it could be calling me. It is also possible my  Jag is igniting some residual lust in me for British GT cars.

I’m 6’ and fit fine in the car. The only problem I have with the car is that viewing the tachometer is extremely difficult. The top of the steering wheel ends up blocking the tach for me. Not a problem when  left in auto mode.

Probably the Esprit. The 4C calls to me as well, but I can’t say no to the Esprit’s wedgetacular goodness.

The Porsche. I have always loved that car, even though I don’t care for anything they currently sell. The Maserati second, but only in an alternate reality where parts and service for it are cheap and plentiful. I like to drive in my fantasies .

its a toss up between the Elise and the Aston despite being two very very different cars.  I’d love to have a V12 which is basically 3 Elises, yet the Elise would be able to drive very tight circles around the Aston

Weirdly, none of those are really all that high on my wants list. Maybe the DB7, but I’d honestly take a $10,000 early ‘90s  Toyota Century over all of them.

Elise is the easy pick for me here. Drove one, absolutely loved it, and would have bought one already if the Exocet wasn’t a thing. Only reason it didn’t win out was the combination of price difference (especially after including added costs of getting one ready for track use) and having to worry about keeping the giant clamshells intact

I’m glad someone brought this up. TheThings is, without a doubt, the worst website with an automotive section. I honestly think at least a few writers there have never actually driven a car.

J ust one example. 15 Budget Sports Cars Everyone Forgets About .

Here’s the list: BMW Z4, Subaru WRX, Fiat 124 Spider, Subaru BRZ, Honda Civic Si, Volkswagen GTI, Mini Cooper Countryman, Nissan 350Z, Ford Mustang, Kia Stinger, Dodge Challenger, Mazda Miata, Toyota 86, Nissan 370Z, Chevrolet Camaro.

Alright, so let’s look at that. None of those cars sh ould ever be called forgotten (really, people don’t remember Mustangs, Camaros, and Miatas exist?). Two of those cars are really the same car (BRZ/86), and several of them aren’t even sports cars. In fact, nearly every article I see talking about the 350Z/370Z on there talks about how dangerously bad they are and how they fall apart the minute you drive it off the lot (unless it’s a 350Z convertible, because reasons?)

Here’s a similar one. You Forgot These Sports Cars That Existed between 1970 and 1990 . Fox Body Mustang, Camaro Z28, AMC Hornet, Acura Integra, Opel GT, Lincoln Mark VI Continental (Ha !) , Toyota MR2, Mazda RX-7, Buick Grand National. Did any of you forget that all these existed?

And one final link: Ranking the 10 Most Beautiful American Cars Ever . The Hummer H3 is on the list, and that’s all I have to say about that.

Sorry IM, this was not a dig on you in any way, shape or form. I just see articles fr o m TheThings pop up on my Google News feed almost every day, and it’s hilarious to me that people with zero car knowledge are paid to write about cars they’ve never driven.

If I were having a Bentley it’d have to be one from the era when aerodynamics were only for poor people. The post-90s ones just don’t do it for me.

I’m with you on the 456 though - one of the better ways to scratch the Ferrari itch.

Can I nominate a $42k F-Type R? Original MSRP was $102k.

The Elise would be a riot. I would go with that or an Esprit. The Esprit definitely looks 100% supercar with 90s radness .

Hmmm, that’s a toughie. The 928 and Maser are a lot of car for that money. I won’t fit in an Elise or 4C. None of the other cars really rustle my jimmies.

One asterisk I see is on the 456M GTA. The “A” stands for automatic. If you’re gonna have two pedals on a V12 Ferrari it better not have a torque converter.
