Ha ve any of you guys ordered from a website called backcountry.com? Looking to know if they’re a reputable company. I'm looking at buying a new full face helmet and gloves and the local bike shops don't have any in my price range of under 150 bucks. But this website does I just don't want to place an order and then never show up.

Your goods will ship and be insured. They are well established.

Yeah, they're legit. I've ordered a good amount of outdoor gear from them and dealt with customer service.

Hmm, I’m not an experienced mountain biker, but I did order some cycling shoes through their Amazon store years ago . No problems there (aside from the fact my dog thought they were interesting to chew on).

Google Backcountry Boycott. They have done a lot of really shady business practices. Supposed to be good to their customers though.
Buy local if you can.

Backcountry has taken tons of my money, and had excellent customer service when I’ve had questions and issues with purchases.
JensonUSA and Worldwidecyclery have also treated me well.
( 661 makes a really nice MIPS fullface for around $150, too).

I normally would, and I still might, I'm just not optimistic of finding stuff in my price range locally

Mips is a suspension system similar to what a construction hardhat has, it is intended to help absorb some of the impact energy, that's about the limit of my knowledge. Worth it from what I understand

They are a very reputable outdoor company. Get the MIPS helmet. It’s designed to stay on your head better during an impact. They have like a plastic web in them that keeps the helmet in place.

Been to the warehouse many many times. My brother even worked there. I like em.

MIPS protects against impacts that put a rotational force on the helmet/head . It includes a liner in the middle of the foam layer that can slide a bit in crash, allowing a bit of rotation (thus spreading out the impact force, and keeping your brain from rotating immediately). Neither my bike helmet nor my ski helmet have it, but I’m planning to upgrade both, seems like people think it’s a pretty good idea, and doesn’t seem to add much in terms of weight, heat, or cost.

I’ve ordered from them before and had no trouble, to answer your question. You might start to see their little mountain goat sticker in places, now that you’ll know what it is. As someone else mentioned, they faced a lot of backlash for a stupid thing they did a while back, and some people swore off them forever.

100% legit headquarters are here in PC/SLC. Also they sue other businesses who use the word Backcountry.

Others have posted about what mips is. My new helmet is mips. Feels like wearing a hard hat in a good way.

I’ve never ordered from them, but I have heard the name alot. I need a new seat. One of the connections to the post broke on mine.

I’ve ordered from them before , no issues. However, they went full send on lawsuits against any other business using the word “backcountry”, and I haven’t ordered since.
What type of stuff are you riding? If it’s anything fast, steep, or involves leaving the ground, get a full face. I use a Fox ProFrame and it’s awesome, wayyyyyyyyyyy more protection than a halfie helmet and really not bad to wear once you’re used to it. About $100 above your budget, but very much worth it.
