I would really enjoy that car. Short shifter, cat back, Bilsteins, silver paint ...

These didn’t have a cobalt steering wheel, they had an ugly bespoke wheel

Are any of the vents and intakes shown functional?

Rear ducts are rear brakes, front fender vents are engine.  I think all are functional

But is that fact or assumption? Sure they look functional, that’s their job.

There seems to be much confusion on the matter on the internet

Huh, I’ve seen them up close in person.

But more to the point, yes some of the vents are functional.

I’m curious what is the point of your cynical line of questions.

All of the vents are functional. The slits in the bumper are brake ducts, as are the black pieces under the door.

All of them are functional, front ones in the bumper of the front brakes and the rear side ones for the rears

Forget the stigma. They get a bad rap cuz of all the oldies that never drive them, and cover their garages in memorabilia while they wax them twice a day. Upshot of this is that most of them are very low miles and well cared for. They can take way more abuse than most cars I’ve seen and shrug it off like its nothing.

Vettes are some of the best performance bargains you can get, and are dead reliable. I bought my 2009 coupe 3 years ago and have taken it on cross-country road trips, it fits my large 29er mountain bike, and it absolutely rips on track.

Buy a vette and drive the shit out of it!

They sell aftermarket stick on versions for non-z06's of the rear brake vents but on Z06's they are indeed functional. The biggest front openings are functional but not at moving air anywhere unless you put in a vararam system. Cars without foglights had black plastic pieces cars with foglights had the same pieces but cut out for foglights.

Foglights:

The smaller front openings are for front brake ducts, the duct behind the front wheel does release pressure from the wheel well cavity but is partially blocked.

Fair enough point. I don’t mean to come across as too cynical, just curious. A lot of front-engined cars have fake venting and it drives me nuts.

I shouldn’t dig at the C5, from what I understand it gets enough hate in its own market. They all do

I get that. I dislike fake vents as well. If they can be converted to functional with minimal effort, I’m happy. The side vents on my wrx were a pita to make functional.

That’s a shame. I had a friend with a Lancer coupe that had a fake Evo bonnet with a cover over the holes. I don’t think it was too hard to do, and was cool to see the heat venting up out of there at a stop light.

He ended up with a real Evo 6 TME w hich he still has :)

Nice, I’ve just about talked myself into adding hood vents to the factory hood to help keep the temps down.  My wife will flip when she sees me cutting into sheet metal.

that was the c6, 2005 had a weird looking 4 spoker and then they switched to the corporate 3 spoke wheel.

i actually prefer the corporate wheel so i swapped a suede 3 spoke from a cobalt z06 into my c5
