We bought a McCulloch lawnmower recently. Here’s the cover of the handbook.

No points for identifying the clue that the McCulloch brand is now owned by a Swedish company.

Kinja'd!!!

Also, it uses a B & S engine which is nonetheless forbidden fruit in the place where it was made.

I’m assuming Orange = Husqvarna?

Forbidden fruit in the country it’s made. I can’t get my head around that.

I’m sure there are loads of examples of that but it just makes my brain hurt.

Like the Jack Daniels distillery, in a dry county.

Right company, although it’s actually yellow.

The clue I was thinking of is that the handbook begins with Swedish and then does the other Nordic languages before coming to English!

There’s plenty of examples of that in the automotive world. Mostly comes down to different emission regulations for the same engine for different markets...and if hitting one market’s regulations is cheaper/more profitable than another then all sorts of shenanigans can result.

You may also find that, in this instance, the OEM deal between  B&S and Husqvarna for McCulloch branded product in Europe includes a clause that such branded product my not be imported back into North America...so as not to cut someone else's lunch. It does happen...

Ye’, Kraft are trying to do that with Cadbury products. Trying to stop the importation of British and European made Cadbury products.

Now that I’ve seen it on a phone, it does look orange there! It’s yellow in reality and on a laptop.
