Maybe I’m off the mark here, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , regardless of miles is...wow.

If cars like the brz, miata, veloster n, fiesta st, etc. w eren’t available, I'd get it. Who wouldn't rather have an s2000 over this?

At least they were nice enough to get a good photo of the dry rot on the tires.

But they’re original equipment!

Full on crazy town.

I have a really nice stock EK, granted it’s not an SI, and couldn’t expect a tenth of the price. I would think a imported Type R EK is cheaper in a year.

I’d way rather have a CTR hatch anyway.

Guessing younger GenXers w/money to burn. Probably few of these left - many were abused, modded to death, stolen, wrecked, or a combination thereof. Same cross section of folks heavily into other 80-90s Japanese sports cars and pony cars. Too much money IMO but if someone wants it bad enough, then won’t judge .. . I’d shell out bucks for a clean ‘89 (or ‘88) SSP notch 5spd (A/C only option, thanks) be cause I miss mine . Or a 4th Gen Camaro, same reason. My wife would cringe because she hates 80-90s cars - d amn mi llenials!

That’s almost NSX money
There’s also the 8th gen Civic Si or even the RSX Type-S

If the world doesn’t collapse I plan to have one of the first off the boat. I have been saving for about five years expecting one to be around 22k after all fees. That could be a pipe dream in a year.

Every now and then, I kick myself for not buying an absolutely mint Photon Blue Si coupe of that generation for about 3500$ a few years ago. This is one of those times.
![]() 06/02/2020 at 23:07 |

Maybe buy one now and ship it later?

If it gets into the 30s then it gets close to a new type R too.

Thats the "go ahead, find another this nice" price

Even when these were relatively new, I was very hard-pressed to find this gen Civic Si stock. That’s especially true with Electron Blue ones.
I always loved this color on this Civic Si and the Prelude Si before it. I wish Honda would bring it back.

There’s good reason why I don’t even like to visit that site anymore. It’s just
not fun unless they have something that’s actually
unique or weird
. All the wanking to
it has t
urned us
into the car
boomers we made fun of. Go drive your
cars instead of slobbering all
over “oh boy, only 3,000 miles!” Remember driving? That thing that cars were meant to do? That.
inb4 “numbers matching” Lancers are a thing, I guess.

At 30K I was OK with it - not many like it out there. But at 50K, LOL
I like how the seller is in Renton - at one time, not too long ago, this thing would have been gone in 60 seconds parked on many Renton streets.

Ooof, that’s just silly.

I’m finding it really hard to be interested in cars anymore as shit like this keeps getting more common

I will defend a lot of high prices on cars but I wouldn’t go 10k on that car.

I’d rather have a Corvette over that Civic.
![]() 06/05/2020 at 15:42 |

It’s getting further away from the 30s now.

I think I’d take this blue sports coupe for the money.... with 8 grand to spare.

It is a gorgeous colour and yeah I think that’s part of the price, it hasn’t been messed with
![]() 06/05/2020 at 15:57 |

Yeah, if someone’s paying $50k for a Civic with 5k miles, they probably want the original tires. Full crazy.

Yeah BaT was a lot more fun when it was actually a place with odd old cars that needed rescuing. Now it’s just a platform for people with fancy cars and/or too much money to just outdo each other.
I know there are some differences but https://barnfinds.com/ has been a much more interesting site to browse as a (not Mr. MoneyPants) car enthusiast.

Man. I almost bought an EM1 for 2k when I was 18. Mom said no.

Thanks for the link, will have to explore that.

Yeah, like member when ya needed the trailer!? I have bought a car via bat (sort of) but only because that is where I found the car for which I had been searching for more than a decade. It’s barret jackson minus the tv show now.
No reserve auctions for cheaper cars are the only ones I really follow.

Some people cannot handle the concept of disposable income.

I guess it’s for the rich person collecting all the Honda models.
![]() 06/05/2020 at 17:32 |

Same here. I just look for auctions and discussions around cars I’m already interested in and browsing elsewhere on the interwebs...everything else, couldn’t care less.
![]() 06/05/2020 at 17:35 |

Nice. I love the writeups too. Actually sounds like someone who cares about each car listed actually wrote it.
As opposed to a standard format now on BaT that repeats the same thing 3 times, some generalized praise you can find on wikipedia, and no difference in how it’s documented whether you’re buying an antique fire engine or a race car.
They’ve clearly built a very successful business, good for them . But sad for the average car enthusiast.

p.s. also check out “The Rad Report” page on facebook. It’s just run by a guy who lives in San Francisco as a hobby with random super clean 80s/90s cars he finds on CL across the country. Lots of members chiming in posting their CL discoveries too. Very neat way to come across some shockingly clean and cheap old cars.

No.

Still would rather have a Miata.

Barn Finds is a JOY. Both sites still bring the weird from time to time
, but BF is so much less pretentious.

That does, in fact, sound rad.
