One of my Harbor Freight LED light fixtures is dead. These aren’t serviceable, are they?
I'll try taking it back. I bought one two months ago. I'll say this one is that one.

Anything is serviceable with a big enough hammer and some duct tape.

I returned a bicy
cle to Walmart after using it every day for 3 months. Cleaned it up a bit and brought the recei
pt for a full refund.
They didn’t blink an eye.
Late stage capitalism has its rewards as well.

I hope you returned it because there was a problem with the bike, not because you just didn’t like it or were bored with it. One reason is valid. The other is not.

Niiiiiiice! Looks like my garage is going to get set upgraded lights soon!

Fair point!

I’ll second this. I’ve got 8 of those up in the garage and they’re fantastic.

I used 1 x 2 and zip ties to mount them in my garage. The mounting clips that come with the lights are pretty crappy, but they will work. I've had them up for a year and a half with no troubles.

Cool! Thanks for the recommendation. I've already ordered them.

I already ordered them. My garage has a sad combination of old under cabinet fluorescents and clamp lights. It needs proper lighting badly!

I agree, all sales should be final unless there is a problem with the product. Returns cost everyone as much as shoplifting.

Those look awesome. Thanks!

I’m looking to upgrade my 6x double 4 foot fluorescents to LED but it’s tough to know which way to go...especially when long term serviceability might be an issue.
I guess harbour freight is off the list

I think since you already have the florescent fixtures, they make LED bulbs to replace the florescent bulbs. I think that would be the way to go for you.

I was thinking about that. There are two types; one that uses the existing ballast and one that bypasses the ballast. So many options and quality levels it seems. I almost want to just start at bare wires again.

I swapped out some fluorescent bulbs with the LED sticks and they are great. Simplest conversion and I didn’t want to swap fixtures. $20 vs $80 for a comparable new LED fixture. They have different color temps too.

Those lights are nice, but they aren’t warm at all. They are super light and easy to mount too.

I would bypass it, because that pulls a failure point out of the system.

I use these, excellent price and lots of light. Still going strong after 2 years

Did you have to rewire the connectors and remove the ballasts?

Most LED light fixtures aren’t really that serviceable. If the D river (sort of like a fluorescents’ B allast) dies it’s generally a good portion of the light’s price: check warranty / return the unit. If an LED emitter dies you’d have to unsolder it, and resolder a new one of the same voltage and amperage in it’s place; you’d never get one cheap enough to make it worth it: warranty / replace. If a solder just broke somewhere you have to have the diagnostic skills to track it down. Most people don’t: w arranty / replace.
If you buy light commercial units they often have 10-15 year guarantees, and they usually only cost 5-10% more than the “home-user” level stuff. Find them at electrical supply stores in industrial areas. Can be overall a better “ deal”
TLDR Version: if it dies, replace it. It is the downside of most LED fixtures.
Side-note: changing an entire LED fixture is usually quicker and easier than changing most ballast units in fluorescents . 3 wires in a junction “box” vs sometimes 8-9 inside the light fixture.

Thanks. I returned it.

Not at all, just swap the bulbs, GE LED bulbs. Super simple.
