Welcome. We’ve been expecting you...

Kinja'd!!!

But seriously though, am I the only one who thinks these things look like an absolute hoot?

Kinja'd!!!

My inner microcar enthusiast is geeking out... So much cuteness! And they should qualify as an NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicle) if you wish to import one to America, so you could legally drive it on roads with speed limits under 40 mph. And all this for only $2,630! (A lthough it seems you’re required to buy a minimum of two per order, so it’s really more like $5,260. But you could always just sell/engine swap the other one, right?)

Wouldn’t you rather have a Dodge Toma hawk knockoff?

The Dodge Tomahawk is certainly cheaper, but the Everbright  has the cute factor. But then the Dodge Tomahawk is faster... But the Everbright is arguably more practical... And I think I’m the only one who actually liked the knockoff Tomahawk... But you have to buy a minimum of two Everbrights. I think that’s the Tomahawk’s biggest advantage. You can buy just one of them if you want, which I imagine would cost a similar amount to what Torch paid for his Chinese electric car, VS $5,260 for two cars plus whatever it costs to ship them both to America. Of course, that’d still be two road-legal enclosed microcars for the price of one golf cart...

Or for about the price of 3 of those you can have a Citroën of the same size but sensibly more powerful (1.6kW vs 6k W) that will probably soon have an aftermarket to unlock its maximum speed and power, like its possible with the Tweezy :

And as they are not technically cars but quadricycles they might be legal to import in the US and Canada.

You’d have to add some sort of governor, even the base Twizy is slightly too fast to meet federal regulations for a low speed electric vehicle. It would have to be restricted to 40.2 kph (25mph).

I don’t think there’s a quadricycle classification for vehicles in America... if it had three wheels it could be considered a motorcycle or autocycle and possibly get in, and if it’s electric you could maybe get it registered as an NEV and be able to drive it on roads with speed limits under 40 mph. But otherwise, it seems unlikely.

It’s a state by state thing.

Sadly, I doubt this could be legally imported into the US (at least not until it turns 25..)

There are 2 versions of the Twizy : O ne limited to 80kph (requires a “normal” drivers license) and one to 45kph (car be driven here after 16yo with a basic license that allow to drive a driverless car or 50cc scooter/mopped ).

Seems like it has at least be federally homologated in Canada and fully homologated in Quebec but probably not in the US.

At least some seems to have made it to the US .
