Rest assured, I’m only posting the good ones. Camera: Konica Autoreflex TC. Film: Portra 400. No edits have been done to these photos.

The remains of a closed Chinese buffet in Wyoming (I think)

Yes, I was driving while taking this photo. No, I didn’t put my face to the viewfinder. I adjusted the settings by touch.

Kinja'd!!!

I had some rock cod and vegetables there. Not too bad, considering it was the middle of nowhere, Wyoming.

I can’t believe I took this safely while I was driving

I am not religious, but this was on my bucket list.

I was hoping to get some of the weird reflections into the final shot.

I really wanted to go into the Temple itself, but I wasn’t an LDS member and I certainly didn’t dress like the other attendees.

fun fact: Rod Sterling used to teach Antioch students here during one of their heydays

Kinja'd!!!

no, the famous antioch main building is still closed, despite it being plastered as a marketing tool in all of Antioch’s marketing material.

Kinja'd!!!

the hot dog was pretty good compared to the rest of Antioch food (which had very high quality farm to table and/or organic ingredients, but was cooked poorly by most of their cooks)

Greetings from Toledo. I would love to do a road trip to California in a 70's land yacht. Convincing my kids and wife to go along with such a plan is  another story.  Man, it’s hard to type when I’m drunk as fuck.

Such beautiful photos. Really captures the romanticism of the open road. The Antioch ones just seem sad. What's with the curved overhead highway signs? Aero for tornadoes?

Thanks! The curved overhead signs are from Wyoming, and it might be for the heavy winds. As I recall, it was quite difficult to keep up with trucks with the wind, the car being loaded, and high elevation.

The Antioch ones were taken when I was in a pretty dark place, but I found photography to be a nice outlet of happiness.

right - I was thinking “maybe 1983?” until I saw the Subaru. Love the distinctive look of real film work. The yellow dahlia shot with the water behind is super cool.

I highly recommend it! Book the cheapest motels in a reasonably spread-out way, and stop at places you wouldn’t normally stop at (especially obscure roadside museums).

These are stellar. They do feel of another era.

Thanks for posting ‘em!
