The most recent fast food restaurants built locally, the windows are above my roof. I understand that my car is quite low, but the new Sonic’s card reader is above the middle of the 4Runner’s window, so... This is getting out of hand.

I’ve noticed that too, not sure when it started, but it does seem like I have to reach up to every window, when they used to be more level. I don’t have an unusually low or lowered car, either.

The Corvette is low, so I always have to reach, but now it’s almost at a get out of the car level.

Can confirm. The Wendy's I like remodeled last year and now I can't even see the cashier's face unless I lean out of the car

That’s because everybody else in America is driving a giant pickup truck or SUV.

But again, my 4 inch lifted 4Runner sits with the window sill under the car reader. It’s excessive, even for stock trucks.

I watched a guy in a Huracan try to go through a Taco Bell drive through once. Not gonna lie, I laughed.

No

What thing?

Future-proofing the windows so they don’t have to raise them again in two years when the Ferd F-teen thousand comes out.
(the US Government classifies is as six tanks. Whatever, words.)

Thats why at least in the miata things just come in through the open roof anyways. Clearly you just need a sawzall to solve this problem! But yeah its still annoying for sure. Worse though are speed bumps that seem to be gigantic curbs in some parking lots. It sure is effective though at least since I have to go zero and only gently graze it instead of slam it.

Yeah Culver’s the most recent drive though built here is really high up too. Obviously built at pickup truck hight

Due to the Corvette being fairly long, I've nearly high centered on some speed bumps.

Have to imagine this is security related. Abusing minimum wage earners is sadly quite prevalent. That and people crawling through the window from their gimongous SUV to get at the cash register right next to it.

O ur local post office is the same way - they put in a new, higher, drive through mail box, and then people with big pickups and SUVs started hitting it so they moved it back. So now it’s so high and so far back it is impossible for folks in average sedans/hatches to reach without getting out of the car... thus negating any value of the drive thru.

I was thinking about this the other day, as usually I’m right where I want to be in the gx or cruiser and way low in the azera. I used to think they built them up because of the rise of the SUV but then I realized it’s because they need to be people height which means natively nearly 5 feet tall. I suspect the rise of better working conditions is behind this more than the rise of car height

Ugh. That’s stupid.

It’s quite annoying having to Duke boy out of my window to slide my card. It seems like it would make it even worse for the handicapped.

That makes sense at least, I can’t be mad for that reason.

Either that, or the buildings are getting growth spurts.
