It was indeed the fuel pump. It’s a shockingly easy replacement. Took me maybe half an hour. Take the seat bottom out, remove 3 10mm screws, take off the cover, remove a clip, unhook a hose, remove 8 8 mm screws, unclamp another hose, pull the assembly out, pop the cover off, unplug the connector, and pull the old pump out. Installation is just that in reverse. It did take a bit of trying to get it to start, but once the fuel was in the lines it was easy.

(I wish more cars were built with such thoughtful access...)

Even on my Hondas it was more labor intensive to change the pump, not that I ever had to do so, because it’s located between the trunk and back seats.
