Adidas Sambas are the best driving shoe that is not a dedicated driving shoe.
1. Snug fit
2. Narrow construction for those tight foot wells
3. Supple leather uppers
4. Soles constructed of grip y rubber
5. Flat heals
6. No sharp edges for snagging on things
7 . Go well with Adidas sport pants

Hot take: Those aren’t Sambas.
At least not the kind I'm used to seeing.

Sambas are best everything shoe. Ive had forever, and usually have the outgoing pair for yardwork, etc. and the fresh pair at any given time. Timeless as a pair of chucks (which I dont find comfortable)

Sir, you are getting gum (soles) all over our floor.
That and I think you mispelled Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66.

Scarpa Mojito
Narrow, tight, Vibram rubber soles , full lace for mad flexibility , super thin insole. rounded edges and an upturned toecap. I have 2 pair of these, they are excellent.

5. Flat heals
But you want rounded heels for driving. Also those aren’t Samba’s

Better than high heals.

I personally prefer the grip, flexibility and status conferred by the legally- not-crocs lavender purple moulded rubber shoes I got down on the Yucatá n and which I share with my S/O

I drive everything, truck, Cobalt, 924, motorcycle, dirtbike, 3 wheeler, lawn mower, everything, in these steel toed, 3/4" thick sole, bad boys,
So my opinion here doesn’t really count for much.
I did have a knockoff set of these at one point though and thought they were excellent . Mostly because they were so thin and flexible it was basically like wearing socks with a bit of rubber sole on them.

Pumas are the answer. I have a few old pairs of Future Cats and Drift Cats. Shoes look similar in design to this:
Their current Sparco Speedcat line (and some of the Ferrari, M series, AMG etc ) look very similar. Low profile, low drop shoes, no bigger than your actual foot. Heel is setup to pivot . Easy to heel-toe in. Really like mine.

I’m not sure why so many people are trying to argue with you in the comments by posting basically driving shoes. Here is my contribution. Sper ry Top Sider. Yep you heard that right. These are actually some of the best driving shoes I’ve come across . The soles are thin, the fit is tight and the heel-toe control is exceptional.

These look nice. I don’t have a source for scarpa here tho.

You’re wrong as long as the O nitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 and Chuck Taylors exist. Specifically, I prefer t he fabric Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 slip-ons, which are thin fabric but have slightly more structure from the few leather bits and an even more flexible sole. I picked these up once in Japan when the weather was a little warmer than I had packed for, and they’re amazing to drive in:

Perhaps it’s in the definition. I kart, auto-x, and track day with them but I could wear them around. Driving shoes to me mean having even less sole and a Velcro upper for pant legs. Sometimes these are non-nomex race shoes. Can walk around in them, look foolish. Race shoes being straight up nomex.

Sambas are great shoes, no doubt - they are comfortable and versatile enough that you can wear them pretty much everywhere.
I just don't like how the sole will inevitably detach from the shoe long before the tread wears out, and even the best glue is only a temporary fix.

I know that when they stopped making Future and Drifts a lot of people hoarded them, my wife included.
Edit addition: they should have kept making them as is. when they changed the style they lost a lot of fan-base.

I chose ones with a sole that covers the whole bottom, so they are like regular shoes just extra thin, g ood protection, comfortable, avoid water, and long periods of standing on concrete.

The new Pumas are really not that good. Super cheap fake leather, the ///M Motorsport logos look like stickers.
