There is a new family member in the garage tonight. Of the two people I’ve shown, one was surprised and seemed almost jealous (in a friendly way) by the end of a short drive and the other said that nobody is going to believe me that I bought this .
What is it? Well since it’s stil
l to be a surprise to some friends (at least 1.5 of whom read Oppo) it will also be kept under wraps on here for a little bit longer. Sorry.
It’s very good so far, though.
The only intentionally disclosed information is that it is a manual, as things should be.

“...manual, as things should be...”
You know, my feelings on that have shifted, no pun intended. I enjoy driving manual transmissions, and I consider myself to be quite good at it. No experience with bang-shifting or any of that, but a degree of skill is required to do it well. But I’ve come to also like automatic transmissions when they’re not slushy. Suprisingly, I especially like the transmission in the 2010 Vic that I’m pushing around these days. I’m told that Ford improved those trannies in 2010-11 and I believe it. I drove a few CVPIs from model year 2000 and the transmissions were very slushy.
