I kind of want this.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

It’s a Volare Road Runner, with a warmed up 360 swapped in, manual trans, and a some suspension work.

Kinja'd!!!

But none of that matters, what matters is this interior.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The only downside is price. Seller is asking 12k for it. Which I think is a bit pricey for a Volare, even if it’s the coolest Volare, which it might be.

They print more money every day.  They aren’t making any more Roadrunner Volares.  You should buy this.  If I hadn’t just bought a camper I would buy this!

By this point Plymouth had no idea what they were doing with the Road Runner brand....

I like it, but it’s listing for about what a ‘63 Thunderbird with a 390 lists for, and those are mad crazy cool.

...admittedly the convertibles go for double or more.

That’s pretty high, for $5k more there is a mint Aspen RT at this place ( an auto though) . https://www.milfordautosalesinc.com/1979_Dodge_Aspen_Hopedale_MA_40597817.veh

$8k seems reasonable and up to $10k if it’s really super clean/rust free , but probably wouldn’t take it. These are creeping up in price and aren’t all terrible, but parts can be hard to find. Lot of Mopar guys don’t even like these. It’ll have the A-833 OD, which isn’t the best mix of ratios. No T-tops is a bonus. Am amazed they kept the trash lean burn system, but it’s easy to remove for a normal ignition setup.

What’s good now is that the whole junk front end can be trash canned for aftermarket now. T here used to be a few options but due to limited demand there may be less now.

Sweet wiggling Jesus.

Can someone enlighten me on the length of the shifter column? And the T handle on top of it? Neither of these things seems to make sense for a manual car?

$12k sounds like a lot for a car that was awful when brand new. But really, all these old GM/Ford cars of this era and size are the same - easily powered, horrible handling cars made to aim and go straight. I guess my point is that this car is only as good as the drivetrain and this doesn't seem to be a $12k drivetrain.

That’s my favorite generation of T bird hands down. I had 3 or 4 Hotwheels of them when I was a kid. They pull of so many styles too. I’ve seen rat rods , Kustoms, low riders, roasters, Bonnev ille racers. Pretty much any style of build will look cool if you start with a fuselage T Bird.

That’s pretty cool! A little too pricey though.

When I was born, my folks brought me home in a Volare. I don’t think it was as nice as this one.

Wow. It’s like they repurposed some old Houston Astros jerseys to make seat covers.
