I finally got the parts in to take a shot at finishing my throttle/carb linkage. I had ordered Alfa levers from Italy and they never showed up, so I had to improvise.
What I bought were effectively universal levers, they just had one arm sticking out with three holes for the lever to attach to. However,
I needed to use one of those holes to attach the levers to each other, which proved not necessarily difficult but certainly fiddly.
So what you’re looking at there is an M5 bolt with an M5 nut on the other side of the left lever running cross to the right lever where I have an M5 nut on each side of the right lever. Make sense?
The inner nuts are tightened outwards to give the whole thing rigidity, then the rod from the throttle linkage is attached to the end of the left lever. The resulting assembly has no flex in it and works beautifully, though I’ll have to loosen it up to put loctite on everything but that’s fine.
As a bonus, the rod from the linkage hits the cross bolt for the levers exactly at WOT. So while I still plan to build some sort of stop for the lever, it has one built in.
Bonus engine porn.
Next thing to do is get it off the stand and onto a crane to install the clutch, and then into the car. Very exciting stuff.

Needs more carb trumpet--looks nice, I improvised some carb linkage on one of my cars a few years back. Not difficult, but fiddly is exactly how I would describe the work, I basically has to flip a bellcrank then reposition and adjust the attached linkage. A cable seems a lot simpler.

The real dumb part is I probably could have just used the existing cable and the balance/throttle lever I had, but I wanted the dual return springs/throttle cables for redundancy. Also it looks cool, and because the car will make such little power it’s important it look cool.

100%. I probably won’t record the initial startup because if it breaks I don’t want to immortalize that, but the second or third for sure.
