Drove 160 miles to get some tacos, then drove 160 miles back.
My GF and I have both been getting a little stir crazy, so we took a little day trip from Wichita up to Manhattan for lunch. Got up this morning, got some Quik Trip breakfast and set off.
Stopped by my thesis design build project on the way, and it’s still looking great 4 years later.
Got to Manhattan, got some tacos from Taco Lucha (my favorite taco joint in college) and ate in the Miata at a park. Wandered around town for a bit and headed home.
Definitely the longest road trip I’ve done in the Miata in about a year. I won’t pretend it’s a great road trip car, but it’s not bad at all on 2-lane
country highways.

Is that small town named Manhattan by any chance?

So if you take the “its not bad at all on 2-lane country highways ” and apply it as gospel, the miata is great for doing coast to coast. I drove from NJ to CA roughly via i-40 area but avoiding highways 90% of the time. My miata was on coilovers and I had a knockoff bride seat. Oh and it was winter. Top was still down and I loved it though. Wouldnt have done it any other way!

My 750lb springs and lack of radio and cruise control are pretty tiring after a bit.

Removing cruise control from mine is to this day my biggest Miata regret.

Mine was gone before I got the car. Previous owner said it already wasn’t working, and the a ftermarket intake setup meant it had to go.

I went hiking in arkansas and nearly died because my legs were so damn screwed up from being crammed in the miata for so long. I started taking it easier on the driving time after that! Because while I didnt make much progress each day, I was still driving 8-10 hours easily. When in Deal’s gap I made literally zero progress considering I spent two nights there but drove about 12 hours that day haha. At least I had a radio and cruise control though, some road trip conveniences right there!
