Woo got my Zune working.

One thing I loved about the Zune was having a FM receiver . Such a great idea.

After years of it sitting in a box in the attic cause it needed to be updated to work again and Microsoft dropped it all, I found a way to force the update.

Great to have it pack and a little portable FM player and soon some MP3s to just chuck in the car. I have seen some custom work to put in SSDs and better batteries so that all may happen down the line.

Feels good to get a project done.

Now if only I had all those torrented files from back in the day.

ZUNE MASTER RACE UNITE!

I’ve got three of them hanging around my house in various states of affair. I was a bit of an MP3 player junkie (have a couple of CF-card gutted iPods, plenty of zunes, several much earlier players) and I’ll still maintain Zune was the zenith of the MP3 player for enthusiasts.

I pulled out my 16GB one a few weeks ago and got it to take a charge but I couldn’t get the Zune software to install on my computer. I had to pull out an old laptop that already had the software on it when it was updated to Win10. Works great!

I still download everything and keep what I like, memory cards are so big now I just use an old Samsung phone with a 30GB card. I have a Zune somewhere but I think I started using old phones fairly soon after. I had a Creative Zen Nomad as my first storage device, ipods were not first! I hate Apple, these were basically a laptop HD with a little screen and scroll wheel. I had to go live in Japan and possibly move around so I took my CDs and ripped them. In Japan you can rent CDs at Tsutaya so I started to do that before downloading.

That’s awesome ! I agree that Zunes were d efinitely sweet. I loved mine, especially the FM receiver was awesome when they didn't have much space or you just wanted something different to listen too.

I had a creative zen too. Mine was a 30gb then i dropped it and installed a 40Gb IDE 2.5 drive in it. then it was stolen from my car with my subwoofer....

USB C is backwards compatible, electrically, since I can plug a USB 2.0 flash drive into a USB C adapter and it works great, so I think you just need +5, TX, RX, and GND and it’ll work.

Ah yeah there are sites that still house the Win 10 Zune software. That is where I got mine.

I was a big fan of mine. The power switch went bad, and the button pad was going on mine.

I loved my Zune as well. It was always pretty solid. It's a shame that MS dropped it, but it was an uphill battle trying to go up against Apple

I’m not sure why I couldn’t get it going before. Five minutes of Googling got me the right software and it’s up and running fine . I’ve haven’t tried connecting the Zune yet but it looks like it should work.

Used to be on the ZUNE team back in the day. Was a good time! Still the main source for music in the garage. Got a random collection of memorabilia that only the few ZUNE fans would appreciate.

Yeah I like old Samsung phones so I can swap batteries. I have worked on the Apple show several times, they are a bunch of dickbags, I didn’t like their interface and OS before and I certainly don’t like them now.
