I’ve been starting to do more distance riding and overnight trips on the bike and am hoping to do a bike camping trip late this summer which means it’s time for more storage and luggage options for the Warrior.
Unlike every Harley ever , options for this bike are very limited and expensive and I didn’t happen to like any of them, so I decided to design and build my own. Being an engineer with access to professional modeling software and a laser cutter certainly makes this easier, but there are lots of free CAD programs and several places that will cut parts for you if a person without professional resources wants to do it themselves.
I’m pretty happy with it so far, still needs a couple of things to be complete like mounts for a backrest, and potentially a mount for an auxiliary fuel tank, but overall I’m happy with the look, size, and fitment.
Hopefully I’ll have it finalized and cut within the next week or so, next up on the list is mounts for new saddle bags. I’ve got a couple of sets of throw- o vers but the set that was on it is getting pretty worn out and tired, and the other set looked far more at home on my old Sportster than this bike. A buddy of mine however has a nice set of hard mount bags that should look pretty nice so I’ll have to see what it’s gonna take to get those mounted up. After that it’s time for road trippin!

Cool XJ in the back. I “built” an old one, back in the days ...
and by “built”, I mean poorly put a $300 titled basket case together, removed the front fender, relocated the rear fender, banged up a old keg to make side cover, and got a local shop do a decent paint job to mask the misery ...

I “built” mine basically the same way. This bike has been several configurations, and this one, like all the ones before, is my favorite. I cut the rear frame and made a new seat pan, removed the front fender and side panels, eliminated all of the safety electronics and the computer boxes these bikes had, built a wire harness from scratch, and threw a cheap rattle can paint job on it. It had clip ons at one point but the ProTapers on it now are awesome, it’s such a fun little hooligan bike. It needs a set of mufflers super bad though, I loved the open pipes when I was young and stupid, and despite how glorious it sound I’m over it.
Love the look of your bike! That black/yellow/white Yamaha scheme always looks great.

I looked at Warriors year s ago before I bought a VTX1800C. I see yours has the same V&H pipes that mine does - are they baffled?

I looked at the VTX1800's but just don’t care for the styling . Weight was a big factor as well, wet weight on the Warrior is 146 lbs lighter than the VTX which is a ton.
I think they are baffled , they were on it when I bought it and I don’t remember from when I checked . They’re not super loud though so I’m pretty sure they are.

nice street tracker i love these i’m a fan of the flat track races. i’ve got a couple bikes that would be good candidates. my schedule may soon allow me to get one started, if i can do that it will get done someday. i’m retired but we’ve been moving and trying to get settled, i hope i can do this before i get too old to ride it.

Just for the halibut I looked up the weights, and saw a 100lb difference in dry weight. That’s a lot for a bike; I imagine the Warrior prob feels more flickable (if that’s even a thing with a 600lb bike). I sold the VTX years ago but would def consider a Warrior for the my next scoot. How’s yours been maintenance-wise? What year & how many miles?

It’s surprisingly light on it’s feet for what is still a big and heavy bike and it hustles well in the twisties. It’s obviously no sportbike but it’s limits are still higher than mine.
Mine is an ‘06 with 30k on it now. I bought it with just shy of 20k and outside of oil changes, tires, and brakes I haven’t had to do a thing to it. If you do look at them I’d recommend an 06+, the ‘06 got some improvements over the earlier bikes such as radial mount calipers, and lighter wheels. The earlier bikes also had a trans recall. If you want a more traditional style cruiser I’d recommend the Roadliner/Stratoliner 1900's. Great bikes and extremely undervalued at the moment.

The Roadliner/Stratoliner aren’t my thing, not into the big fender look. That’s what I liked about the Warrior. I’ve seen a few on Craigs that looked decent; good to know about the ‘06 upgrades, thanks. The V&H exhaust is a definite though as the factory exh looks ridiculous imho .

That’s the same reason I went with the Warrior, I have a friend with a Roadliner though and the more I’m around that bike the more I start to want one.
The factory can on the Warriors is ridiculous and huge it absolutely needs to go. Look into a VBAK (air filter mod) as well and remove the huge chrome coffin on the side. It makes the bike a lot more comfortable and really helps it breath at 3500 rpm+. Most big V-twins seem to run out of breath around 3500-4000, with the air filter mod this bike pulls strong all the way to redline.
