Im sorry for my brain fart earlier; I didn't want to post that to oppo.
That’s a pretty big dome
I guess that when you’re a diplomat, the HOA rules don’t apply to you.
The European Union delegation next to a mountain I forgot existed; thanks to all the rain, particulate matter fell from the sky and we got a very, very clear day.

They did a great job on the Art Deco reconstruction into a memorial, absolutely looks like it was designed to be that way from the start, instead of the center of a Beaux Arts palace.

I’m glad they kept it and turned it into a monument , it’s both a reminder that oppression can go away and a cautionary tale that it takes very little for it to begin.

Would like to visit someday, if travel is permitted again. Literally the only part of Mexico I’ve ever been to is Ciudad Juá rez.

I generally don’t like the north, and when it comes to tourism it’s evident the south is much more sophisticated...

I really want to one day make it to South/Central Mexico. I’m always struck by how your posts hardly seem like they’re about the same country as I know 30 miles South of me.
The historian in me often has to remember the relative importance of places that were a stop along the way versus places that were on either end of the road, especially when it comes to what is now the borderland today.

I can see why you feel that way, this country is very diverse and getting a taste of how different communities are could really broaden what you think about it. Geography really impacts the way people here live, and the more south you go, the more you see some of the more strange things about this country . I think that what you say about the journey is true; either borderland is going to be the absolute exaggeration of what the country is, just like how not every American city is either like Seattle or like Brownsville. Coincidentally, Mexico City is kind of the melting pot of the Southern and the Northern mentalities of the country (though mostly the north even if we’re considered the south)
