This gives me all the fizzies that I got from watching D2: The Mighty Ducks.

I would never bet against America.
The stock market, on the other hand...

Yeah, where we have one of the most dominating teams in any sport, possibly of all time. Don’t bet against them either.
Thankfully about have of America are women.

It’s not betting against, it’s just taking some risk off the table so that I can better support America later!

Oh, yeah - talk about an embarrassing oversight.
Well, I still maintain that that rule still works for certain sports - eg, curling.

But we dominate the World Series and World Wrestling Championships.

Hmm, that is true. Its been decades since another country even made it into the World Series, bunch of low energy losers.

I’ve taken most of it off the table and even placed a few bets against the market myself.

I didn’t listen or read the letter... Did he apologize for dumping huge sums of flaming cash into the shitshow known as Delta Airlines?**
** Because the only fixed rule of investing is NEVER buy airline stocks. Ever.

He said that he made an, “understandable mistake.”

Heh. As much as I admire those guys, it ‘feels’ like they have fallen for a number of almost-scam-like-too-good-to-be-true stories in the last 12 years.
AIG in re-insurance. (a business he should have really understood well)
Wells-Fargo (a business run by confidence men and liars. see any press coverage in the last ten years)
Delta, American, Southwest ( an industry that’s never made sustainable profits since Wiley Post augered into the water near Nome)
All three categories claimed, after 100 years, to have perfected the process of printing money. All were proven wildly wrong.

Does that mean I should put coin on there being more than 100,000 American Covid sacrifices? Or less? This game is so confusing...

I believe Sir Richard Branson once said something to the effect of the best way to make $1 million in the airline business is to start with $1 billion.

Given the history of cyclical business and huge losses? I’m surprised these businesses can raise capital.
Although, when you are allowed to buy back your own stock, I suppose it helps artificially inflate the price of the equity.

Loads of them seem to fail before they even start - launch a website, issue a bunch of press releases, lease and repaint one plane, then disappear after making a few charter flights

Market is still around 24K, from a high of almost 30K. It’s a deep trench but not a total wipeout. Buffet has lived through 10 of these events, I’ve only done 4 and just wish I had a ton of “fuck it” cash to play with.
