Fun fact: This was filmed in my city at Edmonton International Speedway before it closed for good in 1982.

Like all good dead racetracks, it was demolished because Can-Am cars and dragsters are “too loud” or whatever. A great shame. Below is what it looks like now.
When we got a Champ Car race we had to hold it at the City Centre airport instead, which is also gone now.
It’s a damn shame it was so hard to convince a die hard hockey and CFL city to watch motor racing. Maybe we could’ve had an Edmonton GP if Speedway Park stuck around. I’m sure that would’ve worked well.
