I let the $20 42” monitor run overnight and it seems to be working! A little contact cleaner and reseating that connector seem to have done the job. I may be celebrating a little early, but so far indications are good. Now to hook up a flight simulator and get nauseated.
Bonus 914 wagon from Mustie1’s YouTube channel.

I wanted to make the post somewhat automotive related.
The 914 was one of a small series of them made by some guy apparently known as ‘Bondo Bob’ and this is apparently the last one left. It may be one too many. If you’re going to butcher a 914 you might want to make it look halfway decent (at least I think this looks kinda nice...)

Have you seen the specs of the new MSFS? Oh man....they must have thrown caution to the wind because if people are buying massive memenry they dont need for the looks and huge massive GPU cards they dont need for the flexing, then theyll buil.d a game that will fill it all up....

I realize I’ve always liked the underdog Porsche’s. 914 and Boxster. Even the 924 has a place in my heart

Agreed. And I’d almost rather have a late 912 than a 911. Save the flat sixes for Vanagons.

I’ve seen it and I can’t wait for it to come out. Surprisingly, my old computer will probably be able to run it acceptably if the system requirements are anything to go by. I was actually quite surprised at how well Prepar3d 4 ran on this system. But a new version of FS usually causes me d ream of computer upgrades, and I think it may be time to start contemplating a Ryzen...

This is my favorite underdog Porsche:

I’m more of an Xplane guy. Something about more physics on surfaceds instead of just telling the computer how it flys is more attractive. But even then, I just used it to build ideas and see if they worked or not. Other than that, I do it for a living so it’s a passing interest but not something I wan t to spend time on.

Vanagons need a Subaru flat 6.

That slant nose conversion look great!
This looks like what the 914 would have become is the 924 hadn’t replaced it.
Like this is an alternate reality 944.. or 934 then

Have you driven a Vanagon with a 911SC engine? I have, and it’s abso-freakin-lutely hilarious. Beyond silly and OTP.
But yeah, in a water-cooled Vanagon, go with the Subie. Air-cooled? Porsche all the way.

I’ve seen a Porsche powered bus, my friend had a stock Vanagon in college and it couldn’t get out of it’s own way. My dad has a 78 SC so I am familiar with how much power it makes. There is an amazing swapped Vanagon around here, the synchro 16" type that goes for a lot of money stock these days. I’ve see it take off from a light and it’s surreal.

I got the 3.6 in my Outback and was just thinking that.
