The direct (very rare) predecessor of the 164... I still miss my 164-S... and that SOUND.
(Yes, that gear noise and intake sound are STOCK. Maybe not winning at being a luxury sedan, but HOLY SHIT does a 164 SOUND amazing.)

That is pretty awesome. I’ve always been fond of the 1st gen Insight dash myself. But also max points for real 7-seg speedo...

It’s simultaneously dated and futuristic. I love it.

The 164 gets a bad rap for being FWD (boo hoo), but how can you NOT love a comfy (fast) midsize sedan that makes SOUNDS LIKE THAT!?
edit: man, wat ch ing that video I’ve been reminded again of the absolute ef fortless joy that car brought... you didn’t have to flog it (though it was fun if you did), just driving it around was an experience every time...

Both so much prettier than the pig 166 that came after

Awesome. That will be filed away with the XT and the 323 GTX in my brain as “cars with the most awesome retro instruments”

The 323 wins. That is so awesome.
Also, it ain’t retro if it’s original!
