Yep...
Honestly my CPU makes more noise than I was expecting, it gets loud quick with all six cores going.

I’ve stopped mine from CPU folding. The points earned vs. amount it heats up the room doesn’t seem worthwhile . The client tells me there is like another 250k-500k+ per day out there, but I’m thinking the next electric bill will be enough of a surprise without increasing my PC power consumption another 50% for a traction of the points per day the GPU could put out if it got constant work units.

I am considering doing the same. But the racket comes from the fans on the GPU.

You might look at it. What my overclocked 1700x was accomplishing certainly wasn’t worth the heat, and the 3900x is only marginally better.

I shutdown my CPUs in the last day too for the same reasons. It's kept my GPU cooler too not pumping that heat from the CPU into the case.

I’ve got the opposite (pun only marginally inte nd ed). The triple fan setup on the new gpu hardly makes any noise compared to what the fans on my cpu radiator can do.

I removed the CPU folding slot and the machine got about 90% quieter and I can’t even tell a difference in the PPD. And from what I’m seeing, looks like the GPU jobs are all COVID-related, which I think is a pro-pro. Thanks for the tip.

well I FINALLY got the fucking client to use my GPU. had to go delete the config.xml files manually and change the default to “GPU.”
let’s put that watercooling to work.

The radiator in my VAN is smaller than the radiator in your COMPUTER. Still, I’m sure the liquid cools much more efficiently than air would.
