It's not pine but all the pine around makes rhe ground too acidic for dickory dock to grow.

Did not know that. Unrelated I was reading about organic maple syrup. It seems that to use that term there are a bunch of restrictions on pesticides and such, but also some interesting ones on how far the trees must be from a Christmas tree farm (presumably using pesticides or certain fertilizer). The big difference is that most maple producers try to have just maple trees. This way they are less spread out and easier to tap and collect sap. For organic maple, they must have 15% of other species intermixed.
