I owned a rusty XJ, they are a PITA to work on.
Also, I remember when XJ’s like this were 800 bucks (and various other cloud yelling)

Quite possibly, although per my discoveries in Washington ( https://oppositelock.kinja.com/what-the-hell-washington-1842927694 ) the PNW seems overrun with affordable and interesting Jeeps.

Montana uses sand, not salt in the winter. They use the sand to aid in traction instead of deicing the roads with salt.

They started using mag-chloride and brine about 20 years ago much to the dismay of people who like their cars. It’s the worst, sticks to your car like tar and rusts things really bad.
