Any guesses whom this writer is referring to? Such erudite diction, I could not resist passing this along. This is Charlie Sykes, of the Bulwark, hardly a progressive opiner.

Sykes is an old school hardcore Wisconsin Republican in the vein of Joe McCarthy, Scott Walker, Paul Ryan, and Robin Vos. But at some point he got fed up with the amount of bullshit coming out of the Trump admin and is now one of their loudest critics. Go figure.

I’ll give Charlie Sykes credit for having a functioning bullshit detector with regard to 45. I think that wherever someone stands on the spectrum of Trump BS sniffers, which ranges from the leftiest liberal to the more traditional never-Trumper republican, generally they have fairly similar things to say when they smell that distinct brand of BS.

I don’t think it’s cowardice, per se, but I’m with you. It’s more like obtuse , in the way that lots of very smart people have sold their integrity in the name of Trump. And rather than admit what an absolute boob President Trump is being , VDH just writes a bunch of other stuff. My question is, are they at least honest with themselves, people of VDH’s intellectual capacity? Do they realize at some level that what they are doing is a farce? I mean, I know plenty of people who follow Donald Trump who I don’t thing are very subtle and who I think are lazy and aren’t putting any effort into considering anything  that’s not in the echo chamber. I honestly think VDH is much smarter than that. Now, Trump is attacking the Post Office. What’s his game there? Mail-in ballots in November?

I think deep inside, VDH knows he made a mistake and has been wrong, but lacks the courage to admit it. He’s the type who really wants to save face, a generational trait - never admit error. He’s certainly not an idiot, but will double down on his choice that history has proven to be idiotic, just because.   Such minds could do so much better work if they’d just admit they fell for it, and move on.

Post office thing could very well be reacting against mail-in ballots , which is an idea that scares the shit out of southern voter suppression types. Now just to deal with their gerrymandering. 45 also thinks the postal service is helping Amazon, which helps Bezos - a legit billionaire who has plenty of faults but also doesn’t like the conman in chief.  Huge feud there which can unfortunately make it easy to overlook Amazon’s ethical issues.

Post Office could also be nothing more than Trump reaching back into his Big Bag of Distractions and grabbing whichever one his hand landed on. 90% of what the man says , though invariably appalling, winds up being empty talk and thinkaloud.

That’s something to keep in mind whenever he opens his mouth - what’s the distraction. How much money are his cronies siphoning in, what is Javanka up to, what is Stephen Miller working on.  He’s good at the distraction game.
