I’m still getting video like this. It’s like 3 00x2 00 at best.
Monday night watching sewer videos, woooohoooooo!

I bet you see some delicious things from time to time.

When they have not been cleaned right before the camera it can be a bit disgusting. Lift stations and large manholes are the worst tho. Fats, oils and grease ( FOG) build up is absolutely revolting. There was a lift station in Carmel that had so much FOG build up that there was a snake slithering around on the material hunting insects . Condoms when soaking in water for several days get to be in the several feet long range too, we call them white trout.

I will not be an early adopter , I will say that.

Oh, so you’re holding out for the High Definition version?

I talked my company into buying a GoPro with a 25-foot pole for inspecting manholes. I need to follow up and see how well it’s working out. Most of these sewer crawlers don’t have that gopro quality footage.

Carmel, Ca., or Carmel, Indiana? My brother-in-law was the superintendent of public works up north for a few years and his guys had to deal with giant grease blobs. Ew! And a truck with a vacuum powerful enough to suck up bowling balls.

California. Right below some very very expensive houses. This is what happens when you don’t use enough water. The sewer gets revolting.

1080p cameras are super cheap, it’s embarrassing to be using less. Obviously resolution isn’t the only thing (and I’m sure lighting is very important as well), but definitely seems like anything new should be at least that, and quite probably 4k.

That’s a really shitty video.
I haven’t spent any time working my companies sewer camera trailer. I’ve had my share of fun on a few after hours sewer emergency calls. The things people flush that later get pulled out of lift stations can be interesting.

I mean who wants to stick a $500 camera in a sewer?

The crawlers are thousands of dollars, the camera is a minor component of the crawler.

It is a terrible video. The camera rigs are pretty easy to run, they go forward and backwards, not too much more to do there.

I happily keep myself on the clean side of the flush. I’m just on-call for emergencies one week a month, and if the two maintenance guys on call need a third for a sewer issue I get dragged in.

We’ve got one of those camera systems mounted on a 6X6 side-by-side. We use it for inspecting outlet structures of dams and the occasional storm drain.

I remember the days when we used to physically inspect sewers. Depending on the size of the pipe...we were either 'worming it', 'riding the pig' or 'on the float'. Camera quality was not an issue!!!
