I have an idea. Before all this happened there was plenty of community activities planned. There was that idea of a regional landmark competition to see who could visit the most and there was that other Europe meet. Unfortunately, the current events have precluded any such events. However, there is another way this community can have some fun while social distancing, and it’s this:

!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!

I know quite a few people here enjoy photography. I move that we have a friendly exchange of photographs taken around or near our respective domiciles while social distancing.

You don’t need to have a private yard or even a very interesting house to participate. Just see what details stick out to you. I took the following with a cheap camera phone and applied a 30 second edit; you don’t even need to have a nice camera or professional editing software to participate.

The trick to this is that a moderately cluttered apartment or room isn’t usually very interesting in its entirety; however, isolating a specific element can often produce surprisingly good results no matter what the subject matter.

I am not sure what exactly to do with this idea. Mods? Anyone? Let me know what you think of trying to hold some sort of showcase of what we came up with. Perhaps we could make a post containing all the best the community has to offer. I’m just brainstorming ideas to unite this community during a very stressful and uncertain time.

It would also be fun to take some photos of obscure items (or closeups of objects) and see who can identify them.

That’s exactly what I am asking. This could be really fun if there is sufficient opportunity for lifelong photographers and people who have never really tried. That’s something that everyone could try! I like the idea.

I just want to make sure this isn’t a competition to see who has the nicest home or stuff, so that suggestion fits the bill.

The restriction is supposed to provide a challenge and focus on our shared plight of staying at home. Obviously the smaller your living space the further “around or near” can be extended.

Not really close at all. This is paraphernalia which collapses into a china vase. It is really quite ingen ius but I have no use for it whatsoever.
