I don’t know if this story has been shared here or on Jalopnik but Larry at AMMO NYC was invited to detail cars in a collection of per 300. It’s crazy. This is the second video in the series, in the first one he details a Bizzarini that had sat for like 30 years.
A lot of people at mad at the guy for hoarding these cars, but hey if I had millions of dollars i could see myself buying a warehouse and making a few automotive investments. given enough time I can see how that Snowball into having 300+ cars. And it’s not as if he left them outside to rot, and he is selling them, most hoarders just yell “my precious!” At anyone that looks at their stuff.
I’m looking forward to when all these cars are cleaned and listed for sale with good pictures.

Great share! It would be so easy to slide into this. (Ok maybe not this on my salary , but that guy from Michigan maybe) I try to keep cars within my limits of not just storage but also maintenance. At the moment I struggle to maintain the 5 (well... 4. I don’t work on the Volvo) and don’t see that changing. Still, the plan is still to increase storage capacity and I could easily see buying a “next up” car. Then another. Then another. And... boom. Hoarder.

Just thinking of having 300 cars stresses me the fuck out. If the funds are endless, at least hire somebody to take of these things. The hoarder mentality just makes no sense to me.

I watched the first detail video and couldn’t stop looking at the background. Absolutely insane. Can’t wait to watch this.
If anyone deserved to see this it would be Larry.

the fact that its not even in a building with sufficient lighting is shocking to me.

That’s where I respect Leno. He has a staff, and he drives his cars.

What a waste. Then again, the non-coddled crowd does it too, my fintail shares a rented underground garage with several other old cars, and most of them never move. But at least most of them are covered.

It’s just incredible what is just lying about.
I have a neighbor with about 15 or 20 cars squirreled away and even he never drives some of them. There is a fintail Mercedes and an Alfa Spyder in particular that really bugs me. I also suspect he has another building somewhere because I didn’t see too many tools around when he showed me around. I can understand the mentallity but man just stuff stresses me out in excess. I can’t imagine having this weighing on the back of my mind. And this was just one building.

4 cars big and comfy luxury sedan, small FWD, small RWD, and one for beating the piss out of
3 motorcycles, one dual sport, one big cruiser, and a sport bike
3 trucks, one low/mini truck , one for working/hauling , and one for trails.

IMO at some point, when you cannot drive nor maintain them, it does transition from collecting to hoarding. If I could afford it, I would have several. I think I’d cap myself at 10 though.
Dude has great taste though. Can’t wait to see the othe buildings.

This is definitely hoarding behavior, though certainly less bad than if it were animals, garbage, or human waste (all of which hoarders often seem to really like).
Iron Trap Garage has been doing a series on clearing out storage buildi ngs to get another car holder’s collection ready for auction. Guy would buy fairly mundane cars in the 70s and 80s, drive them for a few weeks, then park them in a barn and go buy something else.
I tend to get bored of cars after awhile, but I would never hold onto something I no longer wanted to drive.
