If you didn’t hear: A really rich dude named Ben Chen smashed his Gemballa Mirage GT into a Toyota Sienna and then ran off and promptly smashed into two other cars.
If you look at the
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
, when he’s in the car and a
cop declares “HE’S HAMMID”
the dude looks kind of distraught and awkward. It does indeed appear
he could’ve been on something.
However, when he’s out of the car and talks to the cops he appears perfectly fine.
Did this man just manage to sober up in a matter of minutes? Or was he never on drugs? I know a thing or two about drugs, and I really don’t know what could compel you to do this unless you were extremely drunk... which is not “drugged driving ” as the police report said ... was this dude on shrooms? Acid? MDMA?
The hell was he on?

Honestly, adrenaline is a hell of a drug, and that sudden stop might create a small shock response. Kind of common in crashes, even if you’re unhurt.
Are they sure he was DUI at all?

The same intoxicant that led him to buy the car in the first place.

I heard he took a massive dose of hydroxychloroquine.
I mean why not? what could go wrong?

No one was triple parked so he thought triple digit speeds were approved.

As long as we’re speculating: if anything, he looked drunk to me. N othing snaps a drunk person to coherence like a sudden shot of adrenaline (such as from the crash and/or being ordered out of the car by a cop) , even if one’s reaction time and coordination are still bad . L ook at the first few steps getting out of the car, the mild confusion, etc. Any other drug would be secondary (cocaine seems plausible , as it might encourage this sort of behavior and then wear off quickly ). I wouldn’t think hallucinogens, or at least not much of a dose...any significant dose would render driving fast in the first place way too overstimulating.

Says he was charged for drugs, I didn’t know he crashed three supercars and maybe more covered up!
“ Ben Chen was charged with reckless and drugged driving on Tuesday after embarking on a five-car hit-and-run spree in Midtown Manhattan with his rare Gemballa-tuned Porsche Carrera GT. The $800K wreck drew worldwide attention—it’s not every day you see a 1-of-25 performance machine being used as a battering ram. Nor is it every day you come across a driving record like Chen’s.”
“ By our confirmed count, this unfortunate Gemballa Mirage GT is at least the third six-figure exotic he’s trashed over the last ten years, with rumors about a much higher count and associated cover-ups splashing around on social media and the Luxury4Play forums , a company Chen helped create. But even if you just stick to the three on-the-record smashes, Chen has single-handedly destroyed more supercars than most people will ever even touch in their lifetimes, let alone drive.”

I concur. I think it must’ve just been alcohol. I don’t think anyone could handle being behind the wheel on a hallucinogen. The fact that it wasn’t a proper DUI but instead “drugs” just had me confused.

I’m surprised he wasn’t charged with leaving the scene (of the first wreck). He just got back in the car and beat feat and wrecked again not far down the road. And even more surprised he wasn’t hauled out of the car after the 2nd wreck and thrown to the ground and cuffed.

So, it looked like he could not keep that thing from sliding to save his life (even after driving off slowly). Is this just a bad power-to-skill ratio?

The other option, just to rain on everyone’ s parade, is that he was dazed from the hit initially and came out of it shortly after.
Of course I have no idea how he can afford the insurance after totaling multiple exotics, let alone pay for them.

The bar for driving under the influence of a drug is very low. Everyone reacts differently to different drugs in different situations.
