This was a war against tight and constricting spaces. The wastegate (#29) slots in a small nook between the bellhousing and lowermost part of the firewall. Held in place by a series of brackets to the torque tube (#48, 47/18 combo), and to the exhaust manifold by the J-Pipe (28). An hour or so if what I can only describe as “fidgety negotiations”, it’s all in except the J-Pipe, which isn’t having it for some reason.
At of the end of yesterday, I’d gotten the gearbox bolted to the rear suspension and filled with fresh and properly-graded oil. Apprently, while I had the right weight in oil (75w90), the grade was wrong, and I barely understand it, but it involves some science. I needed GL5, and had been using GL4 for the last year or so. After rectifying that, the engine has been fully buttoned up and filled with oil.
It’s very likely I can have the car running to check for leaks (hopefully a lack thereof) within the next week!
