Found this in my neighborhood a few days ago. I thought I knew my 60s and 70s cars but I never heard of this one.
1977 Pontiac Can Am

One of my dad’s favorite cars! He once told me that Pontiac stopped production when the spoiler mold broke, and the bean counters said it wasn’t worth it to make a new one. The story is so typically GM that it’s too good to check.
There are 2 in my local area. I know where one of them “lives”. Although I’m mostly a modern car enthusiast, if it shows up with a For Sale sign someday, I’d be sorely tempted.

I haven't heard that one, but that does sound like a very GM thing.

So much 70s machismo, the wide square stance, the stripes, the spoiler.
It looks exactly like a big guy in a leisure suit, and a big gold medallion, smoking a cigar walking out of a disco.

I thought of a much better way to sum up this car.
It’s a muscle car with a Dad bod.

I saw the “Power Tour 2014" sticker, so I did a little googling to see if it would turn up. What are the odds that more than one was at this Power Tour?

The car was a variation of the Pontiac Le Mans, but powered by the Pontiac 400 rated at 200 hp (149 kW; 203 PS) (the T/A 6.6 “W72" version, not the base 400, which made 180). Cars specifically destined for Californian or high-altitude county dealers, featured the Oldsmobile 403 Small Block making 185 hp (138 kW; 188 PS).
I think the rims are very smart on that car.
