I mean, things have changed DRAMATICALLY here in the US since even Friday. Now recommending no gatherings larger than 10 people? We’re not that far from an announcement like this.

What does “not allowed to fail” mean??
Like not allowed to break the rules or the gov will ensure no one goes bankrupt? (I guess its the 1st one)

I that happens in the US, I’m buying interior latex paint. Two weeks, i can get the whole house repainted, easy. Of course, that is if I or my family isn’t bed ridden.

i think its the latter actually....at least...im assuming thats the gubment offering to help keep businesses afloat... that said...if this drags on thats a lot of businesses in need of saving

Thats my thinking. If im gonna be forced to be home all the time then I’m gonna go ride my bike.

I assume key services like police and fire will still be around.
I think it really depends on if your neighbors are snitches, or how visible you make yourself. Go off mountain biking, who’s gonna know? Go gallivanting around town, someone will see you, or someone will snitch.

In his press conference just now, the French president announced that the European Union would be closing its external borders on Tuesday.
O.o

I’ve just been dispatched to pick up our school snake and keep him at my house for fear of an all out quarantine.

I feel like I am there already. Restaurants closed, gym closed, ice rink closed, nowhere to go, all day to get there. Getting close to taking up drinking as a hobby.
I still want to know what is going to be done about people needing to pay bills. Rents/mortgages/car notes are going to become an issue in no time.

The western world is going to need some kind of economic bandaid in place for normal working people, stat. Most don’t have savings to live for a couple months. Time for something to actually trickle down.

They’re coming

Thats what Ive been doing. But I can also bike directly from my house and its not like I am going to see people. Im still at more threat of being eaten by a mountain lion than corona virus.

Kids to school but closing pubs seems like the wrong priorities.
![]() 03/16/2020 at 18:19 |

ayup....tho apparently weve closed the schools too now
or at least the schools are closing themselves.... we have a shortage of teachers here and the gubment telling schools to stay open whilst also telling teachers (well everyone) to stay at home if they have any symptoms like a cough doesnt exactly help that shortage....

Joe Biden has a plan.
Drinking will be a short-lived hobby if the liquor store is closed.

I see Mittens has a 1K/person stimulus idea, won’t cut it.
Gotta stock up now. I took a field trip to Costco today just for the lulz (wasn’t as bad as I imagined, but still chaotic), plenty of booze on hand.

Yeah. I think there will be a baby boom: Generation COVID.

$1,000 won’t even scratch the surface, and IRS will add it to your taxation basis, I expect. And when Joe Biden goes on about everyone being “made whole,” there’s no disinsentive then for someone to go blow what money they have on booze and fast times because they know Uncle Sugar is gone bail ‘em out. That’s where I swing right, in the area of personal accountability. There’s nothing to devalue a thing more effective than giving it away for free.
![]() 03/16/2020 at 20:30 |
|
Exactly. When I read that, I thought “you mean $600".
I support some kind of moratorium/pause on “payments”, those being rent/mortgage and car. Not permanent, but something like this is needed or there is going to be strife, especially in high cost of living areas where many are just scraping by to begin with. There will also need to be a significant extension of UI benefits. This money will go right back into the economy, not stored away like the past 40 years of pity the rich policy to those who often would have nothing if not for daddy.

And President Trump will turn right around and flog Pelosi Country with it.
![]() 03/16/2020 at 20:54 |

I could see him taking advantage of regional tension in this. There will be talk of “coastal elites” by the slavish deluded cultists of a (self-proclaimed) billionaire from NYC, and then more mental gymnastics.

If I were Joe Biden, and I survived until November, I’d pummel 45 with “You botched it.” None of 45's diehards would buy it, but lots of other people would. I have a very ominous feeling about where we are going in the next six weeks.
![]() 03/16/2020 at 23:16 |
|
That gets me about Biden - he’s definitely mouthy, but seldom when it counts. Will he really bluntly call out 45 like he needs to be called out?
This whole thing could be used to delay or modify elections, and I know a certain 6'3" 239 wannabe strongman who wants his job for life.

With stuff like this, less energy wasted on gerrymandering later.
