I traded a bank check for some paperwork to a 2017 Jaguar XE 25t this morning. I spotted this black cat parked for sale over the weekend, and the kitty followed me home.
It’s a one owner car with 52k and all records of dealer service since ne w. Black and tan interior. I paid $17k for it. It was owned by a lady who owns a cosmetology school in town who was very emotionally involved with her Jag. She had been trying to sell it for some time, but pulled it off the market every time someone made an offer on it. It turns out she’s in the middle of selling one commercial building and buying another, so both her accountant and her husband said she had sell it if I made an offer. She was sad to part with it, but she did fill up the fuel tank for me before we met this morning. This is the kind of owner I like to buy used cars from.
They’ll be more Jaag content to come, but suffice to say this will make a good driving to work car paired with the Pajero for fun. I saw this car and ended up having my jimmies rustled by a car I didn’t expect to do so. I just thought it would be an interesting test drive with little intention of buying the car. The driving experience and handling won me over. Torque vectoring rear differentials do the good magic.

The car still has 8k left on the bumper to bumper warranty, and 28k left on the powertrain warranty, so I’ve got some time to learn how I feel about running a car built by blokes. This also means the sportstruck is for sale, as my driveway is at critical mass. I’ll Svend the F-150 this weekend and get it listed.

I’d buy the sport truck if I didn’t need something with 4 doors.
Jag definitely makes some good looking cars though, nice choice.

I’ll be sad to see the sportstruck go :(

Congratulations on the adopting the new cat.
Kinda stupid question but I’ve never had a manufacturer warranty. Do you have to go to a jag dealer to use a warranty? Does Las Cruces even have one or would you have to go down to the one in El Paso?

Very nice.
Now, do you say Jag-war or properly say, Jag-u-ar?

No one ever seems to talk about the XE. I’m looking forward to deets.

I'd have to go to either the Jag dealer in El Paso or Albuquerque. No Jag dealers in Cruces.

I usually just shorten it to Jag, but I’m not opposed to trying to develop a habit of saying it properly. I did set the infotainment to UK English instead of US English. It felt like the only right choice.

They’re very good to drive. The reviews are right about them. The interior is merely fine and not special like the big cats. This is where they saved costs for an entry level kitten. A Mazda 6 interior is a more special place to be. Likewise, the backseat is there, but if that’s an important consideration you’ll buy something from the Germans . You buy one of these for the way they drive.

M eh, the 3 series interior is only okay as well, if solidly built. And it’s not known for its back seat room either. I’m just glad to hear they didn’t skimp on the driving bit.

Good man. Lol.
As a Brit, hearing ‘Jag-war’ is so painful to our ears. Lol.

It comes from Spanish, so I’m sticking with Jag-war to be a little closer to the original :)
However, as a car brand, I can go either way. That’s the fun of loan words.
/got one art o-level
//it did nothing for me

I too owned a JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG and a Mustang. Alas, the Mustang went when my wife got a new car as I knew we were moving from TX to FL within the next year . But I still love my XFRS.

As long as nobody says Jag-Wire (makes me cringe whenever I hear this, didn’t even know this was a thing until recently).

No. An independent mechanic, a retail chain shop, or even you yourself can do routine maintenance and repairs on your vehicle. In fact, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which is enforced by the FTC, makes it illegal for manufacturers or dealers to claim that your warranty is void or to deny coverage under your warranty simply because someone other than the dealer did the work. The manufacturer or dealer can, however, require consumers to use select repair facilities if the repair services are provided to consumers free of charge under the warranty.

Sounds like they can require it be done at a dealer if they want to. They just can’t penalize you for going elsewhere.

Jag-wire and Jag-war are just the same in my books. Both make me cringe.

I had one as a dealer loaner. Imagine a RWD VW GLI.

Having had no experience with VW, I don’t know what that means personally, but from what I’ve read around here, that’s not bad.

I’ve been thinking about the XE as a potential daily. Had an XF 3.0 four years back and would be interested to know if anyone has compared them. O ther than back seat space as a negative the XE would benefit from the weight difference greatly as the XF drove a little larger than I like.

Me-Wow! Congrats, buddy!
We should have an Oppo Jaaaaaa ag-only meet!

The only proper pronunciations are “Jag-u-ar” or “JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG”

That sounds about right. I’d have some mixed feelings about one of these for $40-50K new. As a not very used three year old car still under warranty for less than a new base model civic, they’re a lot better.

This would be an accurate take. You don’t have to do work at the dealer with a car under warranty, but if you want the manufacturer to pay for it under their warranty you’ll have to use their dealer for that work.

I’m actually curious to drive an XF now, too.
