Revealed at the Not-Geneva show.

Love child of the 1991 Countour concept:

Kinja'd!!!

And the new Turbo:

Kinja'd!!!

After only seeing the teaser,

Kinja'd!!!

the full reveal is not at all what I’d expected, but I really like it overall.

The front fender made me think Mazda MX-6 for a second.

Got some Audi TT vibes, too.

Is this their possible new design direction as they attempt to move upmarket?

I think it’s time they scrap their logo and start fresh.

Agree on the logo— maybe they need to go through a 90s-Mazda-type soul search (though I’ll always like the lotus logo best).

The more I look at this thing, the more impressed I am.

See, I was thinking Hyundai got ahold of this: Porsche 989 concept.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

It looks like they took this, changed some of the trademarks to pull it away from a Porsche, like making the headlights other than round, bringing the window graphic to a point, and turning the tail lights vertical, rather than horizontal...

and by magic, a Porsche concept becomes a Hyundai concept.

If Kia can become the affordable Audi-lookalike line (by hiring one of their designers) , maybe Hyundai becomes the affordable Porsche Taycan by ‘borrowing’ some of their old concept ideas.

That is a good one. I don’t think I’ve actually heard that particular turn of phrase before.

-_-......

In my head I had dreams of a Wiesmann/Daytona Coupe-esque front end. That this is not. Of this I am no fan...

Said Wiesmann for your time!

Also, H/K hired Peter Schreyer. There’s been a lot of movement in the last 10 years, of course, but a lot of the German designers went over there. Many didn’t last long, the cultures were too different. But Hyundai’s been doing really great work, and just keep getting better. This makes me think that they’ll get somewhere really good.

As with all good phrases, it strikes you as completely fucking obvious and you ask yourself why you didn’t say it first.

It was part of our conversations in design school 20 years ago.

Exactly, except that Miriam-Webster probably left the expletives out of the definition of the word ‘ Axiomatic.’
