It wasn’t perfect, but I really enjoyed the last gen Impala with the 3.6 v6. Really nice seats, good ergo, reasonable controls and touch screen , lots of room, drove a little heavy but for a relatively inexpensive car it would tri ple digit cruise quite well. You can hear the motor ticking as it cools from our run from Flagstaff to Winslow on route 66 here...

I liked the early version 77-79 design. The redesign
they used from 80
-90 is ugly and a step down IMO

Agreed. The ‘77 was the first year and Motor Trends Car of the Year that year, but they also used Turbohydramatic 200 transmissions that failed, and the venerable 305 CID engine at something like 120 HP that was a fail.
