...it looks generic. Like you bought the store-brand wet lease aircraft instead of the name-brand.

I kinda like the blue painted engines. The tail flag is much less interesting than it could be, but erring on the side of restraint is always better I suppose.

But think of the savings from just buying old BA 747s and changing the stripe location :

If they wanted to save money, they could buy Mexico’s plane

No, its not ugly. Its not brilliant either. I ts fine, just fine.
Not that Raymond Loewy’s design should be considered some sort of sacrosanct flying monument to be preserved for all time, but it is at least iconic, unique, and instantly recognizable. This one, you could swap out the flag and country name and it would work just as well for any country with red, white, and blue national colors.

It’s the classical architecture of airplane liveries. It’s fine. Not great, not terrible, just fine.

This is what it should be:

We should just be grateful he didn’t put his face on it.

I’d say modern and postmodern architecture is usually done lazier these days. If someone commissions a classical building, they have to be putting some thought and effort into it, since it isn’t the safe, default choice anymore.

Well, the current one has it, too. Or, at least a mustardy yellow.

I mean I’m kinda surprised he didn’t go this route since he’s such a fan of the spraytan :

My beef is that it’s no different from anything else from this president. He’s not doing , he’s undoing , and leaving his stain on everything. One more way we’ll be forced to remember him when he’s gone.

The Air Force will find plenty of tests to complete before this rolls into the paint shop after January 20.

There is a book I would like to send you that I think you would enjoy reading. It’s a historical, in-depth look at the ditching of a P-3 in the Atlantic. Fascinating and well told.

Is it for sale online?

Yes, and I’m surprised there’s not a less expensive copy. It’s a truly outstanding account where he unfolds the event in painstaking detail, but very readable. I couldn’t put the book down. As I read the synopsis, I am reminded how comprehensive and exciting the account is to read. The book was shared with me by a close friend and retired P-3 test pilot.
The offer to send you a copy stands. You have been such a satisfying correspondent that I’d like to give you something back. And I think you’d enjoy it as much or more than I did.

And yes, it is necessarily ugly. Hopefully you are correct and it will take the Air Force sufficiently long to accomplish the assignment.
