Well, my car is in the shop for a gas tank replacement and wheel bearing...will come to $900 CAD...my wallet is dying.
I have several hours to kill, so join me for a random adventure!
1. Walking to the nearest Tim Hortons right now and have already spotted deer tracks in town...
2. Things be frozen
3. I have arrived at the salvation that is Tim’s and now possess a hot chocolate.

How does a car wind up needing a gas tank?

Most of them are plastic now, so it may have cracked.

Because the gas tank is steel, and therefore can rust. I live in the salt belt that is Nova Scotia. It doesn’t matter how much you undercoat your car, usually from the factory the companie s don’t rust proof the top of the tank very well. It’s hard to get up in there when getting your car undercoated because of the small space, so they’ll often rust out at the seams where the top half and bottom half are welded together. usually along the top side of the seam because that’s where the undercoating doesn’t get much, so salty water will get up in their late and very very slowly rust over time.

I have an older car (2009), so it is steel. U nfortunately it rusted through at the halfway weld seam from 11 years of winter road salt and undercoating stuff not getting high enough up in there...
The new tank has a lifetime warranty though, at least...?

That’s what coffee is for, to soften them up. Don’t worry about sending me a cup. I’ll take care of that here. Thx.
