You may remember January I ordered two personalized plates after discovering they’d modernized the process. One of the two has arrived.
And it is amazing. Snowing today, so no picture of it on the Jaaaaaaag, but I’ll follow up with one soon.

Aren’t you supposed to put your thumb in front of it?

Awesome! Although I’m a little surprised this wasn’t rejected.

Oh?

Cool plate. Do you need to run a front plate in OK?
That’s a very generic looking license plate. Only other plate I think I’ve ever seen black and white is Texas.
And what’s with the DNA strand going down the middle? WTH, Oklahoma?

If you add “ off” to the end...

N o front plate, but in the past I’ve run my “normal” plate in front as you’re required to have it in the car at all times since you have to maintain separate registration on those too. Which is fun . Probably won’t run a front plate on the Jag.
California has some pretty generic plates, though I think they’re blue and white. I absolutely prefer the simple to anything else. The normal plates look like this, at the moment:
They’re really hard to read and look a little derpy.
No idea on the DNA. I think maybe something to prove the plate isn’t fake as I believe it is reflective?

Fair, though a long way to go for the joke. Probably helped that it was going on a Jag.

Yeah, now I can file a lien against his house and take out several credit cards in his name. Or, so I understand the theory

O
ther Jag owners may take issue as the plates
are not
stolen/forged
, and also have unexpired tags. Not really in keeping with the JAAAAAG lifestyle.

Yeah, the black and white certainly isn’t bad, just something I haven’t seen often. And yes, the “normal” plate is rather derpy.
So you need to have separate registration on the original plates you had with the car? That seems really confusing. Why would they do that, besides the obvious money grab?

Oh I know how you meant it — I just suspect a lot of DMVs are overly sensitive to ANY possible misinterpretation.

Alabama has the “ DNA,” too. Ours is a pretty complex hologram to deter counterfeiting, like the stripe in the dollar bills.

Fair point.

Should have thought of that when I went to get FL plates for my Jag after I moved. But since SMURF U and SMURFY were already taken, I was so sad that I just went with regular plates.

Incompetence? Or yeah maybe just a cash grab. I think it is like $12/yr to keep the plate. Though it can be transferred to another vehicle, so I guess it sort of makes sense to treat it as its own thing.

I almost did “BLUPILL” for the Volvo because while the Volvo is blue and pill shaped, I thought the viagra and Matrix references were funny. Apparently the term has taken over by crazy people so... glad I didn’t.

Naah , I’m just picturing a sour looking DMV employee imagining it to be something offensive.

There's a guy locally here in NY who has that plate on his F-Type R. I love it.

Love it. Going to be hard to remember how many As are in it when the hotel wants your plate. Almost as bad as the plate I saw BMWMWMW.

Haha sorry I didn’t get more creative than that :-P
Odd they came separately ... Hopefully the other one will come in soon.

I didn’t get a custom plate, but I did get one of the buffalo plates. I really really dislike the plates Oklahoma went with for the standard plates. And these are waaaaaay better, plus $20 of the plates cost goes toward the Nature Conservancy’s conservation efforts.
