I can’t keep it all straight. Back in the 80s, I spent a summer working at a Chevy dealership. It was an education for me when I had to get a new hubcap for a Chevy Spectrum and it came in an Isuzu box. And the Chevy Novas we sold were all basically Toyot as .

That was quick. I remember when automotive sites were pining after the possibility of it arriving in the US

Not going to be missed. Granted the new front end on the Mitsubishi L200 Triton looks ug ly.
The L200 starts at £26,500 (though this one is on sale at £19,999
£37,410 for the highest.
Cheapest on Autotr ader looking is £34,215 (though this one is on sale at £31,199)
The top is £52,219.
That’s a £14,719 price different from a top Mit subishi, with a Mercedes Benz badge on.

Nice! Now they won’t be all over the UCI downhill races.

Wasn’t it a Mitsubishi first, then got a Nissan badge, then a Mercedes badge?

Toyota sold the Cavalier in Japan, which made this a possibility:

see a few of them about now.
but a h well, it is effectively only a Navara rebadged, so no great loss

Not going to argue...it was such a half hearted effort.

Nissan makes the current pickup for Nissan, Renault and Mercedes. The next one is being made by Mitsubishi for Mitsubishi, Nissan and Renault.

Nope. Nissan first...then Renault then Mercedes (via some re-engineering).

Sorry Svend but the Merc is a D40 Nissan with a wider track.
Th e next L200/Triton (later this year or early next) will spawn the next Nissan Navara and Renault Alaskan...

I hate myself for liking them.
I know it’s just a rebadged Navara, and I don’t even have a use for a pick-up truck. but I kinda want one of those

I stand corrected, cheers mate.
I guess I never really noticed the Nissan where the Mitsubishi was always more prominent.

They are a bit bizzare, though. M-B did a great job on the dynamics of the Nissan but then made a dreadful mistake using the Nissan driveline in the base models and charging way too much for the underwhelming results. When they did use the M-B V6 TDi driveline...the premium compared to the similarly powered and equally dynamic Amarok and Ranger was laughable.

No surprise there. The Mitsubishi is both better than the Nissan (only a recent development) and uglier...(for more than this generation).
Also it’s cheaper and that was a surprise to not only Nissan but also Renault when they bailed out Mitsubishi ...and that’s apparently why Mitsubishi scored the development lead job for the next one.
