2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP V8! $1688 could be a riot. What advice would you give to a perspective owner? Not sure whether or not this is a terrible idea.
Ok my excitement is gone i thought it was the 5.3 v8 from the grandprix gxp. Its only a 4.6 with 275HP through a 4-speed.

It’s right on the line of being fuck-it money. Hell, I have ample space on my credit card...

Check for r ust and transmission problems, otherwise it could be pretty fun!

Advice? Buy it, pull the engine/trans, and swap it into a Fiero.

Save for a transmission or just avoid altogether, also early DOD, eww.

It’s 3rd transmission is on the way out. See mr. google for more info on the 4T65e.
I’ve rebuilt a 4T65e. It’s not horrible but it’s woefully inadequate for so many of the applications.
First GM said the 4T60e is good enough for all the 150hp sedans and it sort of was.
Then they said it was good enough for the 200hp supercharged versions (it wasn’t) BUT they stuck the 5 in there because of “improved parts”.
Then they sold it to Volvo to stick behind a 270hp, turbocharged 5000 pound SUV with two transfer cases, 7 passenger capacity, and 5000 pound tow capacity. That was a really bad idea.
Then they put it behind a LS V8 that made all the torque off idle. The worst idea of all.

Looks like the driver’s side has been wrecked and repainted. But if there are no codes, the doors still sound like they shut correctly, and the car still tracks straight and isn’t crabwalking, heck, dooo eeeeeeeet.

Look s like its been in an accident based on the color match between the doors and LH quarter panel. Still For that money wouldn't sweat it if the repair was vaguely solid and its mechanically decent

Oh, slightly worse, a Northstar. Avoid at all costs.
